GDKP runs were successful because the dungeons at the time were difficult enough that most bad pugs couldn't clear them. With the introduction of LFR, and Dragon Soul being the joke that it is, there's no money to be made from selling anything other than titles and mounts from heroic end bosses (Rag/Deathwing).

Also, just to add, 10/25 man didn't share lock out back then I don't think.

Edit: The ilevel of the items weren't the same either as they are now.
