What would you do if you were without power and everything around you were without power? Figure no cell phone, no Internet, probably no work, no WoW, etc. I think I'd be extremely bored without technology.

I'd be trying to figure out what to do with everything in the freezer and fridge.

No cell phones, AC, work, or basic utilities aren't solely first world issues. |

A couple years ago I was without power for 2 weeks due to a massive snow storm. If it wasn't for work, I'd have likely retreated into caveman mode >_>

Oh no, god forbid the human race make progress and address changing sets of concerns that grow out of said progress. I for one am glad I can worry about power outages and the signal on my cell phone. It keeps me from worrying about where I'm going to find wood to keep my fire going while I go off hunting to get food. |

I would sit outside at night and enjoy finally being able to see the stars.

This!! Well, providing is wasn't cloudy of course. I envy people that live far away from excessive light pollution. Other than that, I'd probably do a lot of housecleaning. :P |

Its kind of what Sam Kineson (sp?) the late comedian said about Ethiopia and starving there:
MOVE. You live in SAND. ITS A DESERT. MOOOOOOOVEEE!!!!! I would sit outside at night and enjoy finally being able to see the stars. And the river of sewage. And some dead animals on the street, possibly some people too. I live in Omaha Nebraska, so I'm never without power. Nor do we have power rationing ever. Nor do we ever have water rationing. In the middle of the summer drought, I can stand outside and just spray a hose around all day (even though I'm in a nice condo, with automatic sprinklers too.) There was a huge ice storm here some years ago, which did knock out power for some people. We already had underground electrical cables so we were fine. I could not imagine living in a third world country, or even somewhere in the United States with rolling blackouts or some kind of rationing (why would you do that? LOL) |

I have lived more then 2/3 of my life without the internet.
Wanna know what we did instead. Read a lot of Books, magazines and newspapers. Did a lot more with our familys. Spent a lot more time with our friends. Managed a relationship or two. I built an observatory and my own telescope in our backyard and spent a lot of nights out there. BTW both are still there 40 years later. We had plenty of things to do without the internet. |

Yet, wow would be the first issue, if there would be no power!!!!

I know it may sound like many people up in Northern Michigan are crazy, but many of us have made bug-out bags for scenarios such as this. The preppers show has given any survivalist a bad rep, don't assume we are all nut jobs like them. All depends if it is winter or not, summer is easy mode, but winter would present a challenge to any city folk and so many would die.....
