The world that can be constructed is not real.
The Way manifests all that happens and may happen;
The world represents all that exists and may exist.
To experience without abstraction is to sense the world;
To experience with abstraction is to know the world.
These two experiences are indistinguishable;
Their construction differs but their effect is the same.
Beyond the gate of experience flows the Way,
Which is ever greater and more subtle than the world.
-Chapter 1, Tao Te Ching
Who understands the world is learned;
Who understands the self is enlightened.
Who conquers the world has strength;
Who conquers the self has harmony;
Who is determined has purpose.
Who is contented has wealth;
Who defends his home may long endure;
Who surrenders his home may long survive it.
-Chapter 33, Tao Te Ching
What is Temple of the Tiger?
Temple of the Tiger is an Alliance-based, communal, character driven guild that will focus on heavy, immersive and story-based roleplay, as well as eventual end-game content such as heroic dungeons and raids. We are, in many ways, a character driven guild. Characters and their stories are the backbone of our out-of-character philosophy.
Who is Temple of the Tiger?
Although the majority of lore for Pandaren and Pandaria is still shrouded in mist (until more information is released as the Beta continues), the core basis of Temple of the Tiger is that it is a guild based on the life within the monasteries of Ancient China, such as the Shaolin Monastery. As a community of Pandaren citizens and martial warriors and poets, it will reflect Pandaren lore and culture, as well as their inevitable mysticism. Naturally, the martial arts will factor heavily into the guild. Aspects of real-world martial arts that are relevant to Pandaren lore will be carefully inserted, as well as the philosophies of Ancient China, notably Taoism (in the form of the canon philosophy known as Tushui.)
What does Temple of the Tiger do?
Temple of the Tiger will strive to provide many opportunities for roleplay and communal gameplay. Our events will include:
Initially, Temple of the Tiger will only accept Pandaren of any class. After we have successfully garnered a core Pandaren member base and discussed with current members, we may open up recruitment to the following classes of any race after an intensive series of discussions and interviews:
Warriors, Priests, Monks, Rogues, and Shaman
The allowed classes may be altered in the future should we find a need for it.
Who leads Temple of the Tiger?
Temple of the Tiger will be lead by the Pandaren Monk, Sifu Shaoje, a Tushui Sage, Martial Philosopher, and Master of the White Tiger Claw style. In addition, there will be a small team of carefully selected senior officers, who will hold the titles of Sihing (male) and Sije (female).
Sifu: Shaoje (played by Beorod)
Sihing(s): Shaiming (played by Ferenold), Xuan-long (played by Torean), Qiangniu (played by Forrgrim)
Sije(s): Mei-Feng (played by Aelissia), Meifong (played by Danyle)
Who should I contact to inquire further about Temple of the Tiger?
Shaoje will be played by Beorod. Interested parties should contact Beorod through in-game mail or private message. Further questions can also be posted in this thread. If you are interested in getting involved in the guild in an officer capacity, please contact Shaoje through in-game mail. I will then get in touch with you so we can have a discussion about why you wish to become an officer, and what you can bring to the guild.
