As I'm sure any REAL lore buff will tell you, Pandaria was shrouded in mist. Thus completely immune to any corruption of the lich king. Likewise, it's impossible to see through mist, he never even knew it was there. The alliance or horde just needed to up their technology to produce some mist and we wouldn't have needed to kill the lich king. You'd figure with all the peace pipe passing around between the tauren and trolls kalimdor would already be shrouded in a cheech and chong reminiscent haze, but apparently not. Either way just remember, Precipitation renders the lich king completely incapacitated. Rock solid lore backs this up
