I posted yesterday about my issue with installing 5.0.4 on my desktop. Still having the same issue. I run WoW (as administrator), it comes up with the Cata launcher screen. Starts doing the updating tools blue bar. Blue bar finishes. Launcher closes. Nothing happens. Watching in my task manager, when it's updating the tools, the migration 4.3 > 5.0 is actually running while launcher is up (launcher.exe is running also). So I know everything is working as intended there. Once the blue bar finishes, it closes launcher, and closes the migration program as well. I've gone through about every post I can find on this forum looking for a fix to the issue, and cannot get it to work for me.

I have:

Used WoW Repair program in the Program Files folder with it. After I use the repair, the launcher goes thru updating tools and closes the launcher, then launches the CATA launcher again, going thru updating tools again, and closing the launcher with the same original problem.

I have made sure to delete any Battle.net folders I had on my computer, including cache, wtf, and interface folders from the WoW folder

At each attempt, I've always run as administrator

At each attempt, I double check that I have enabled secondary logon

At each attempt, I ensure nothing -absolutely- nothing is running in the background

I have uninstalled my security software completely while trying to get the download to work.

I have no third party applications at all on my computer

I've come up against a wall and am unable to troubleshoot further. Someone give me a hand here? Otherwise, I'm going to just try uninstalling wow and download it again from scratch overnight.

so I just started the reinstallation process...uninstalled wow, had a couple errors about uninstallation (can't delete a couple of the files) and now i can't even download the installation client...so screw it...

i feel ya man i went through 8 hours last night of !@#$ trying to fix it from temp folder, to deleteing agent in the C:\programdata\Battle.net folders to wtf,interface,cache, secondary etc firewalls. Atm im downloading a 5.0.4 patch mirror online. I really hope this works, because honestly this is frustrating and rediculous.

I get the same eact problem man! For the last two days ive been troubleshooting and trying and nothings working and their ticket repsonses are complete bull!@#$. I even uninstalled it and defragged and did this one system check they said to do that took like 2 hours and it still doesnt work. When I download the game client it just doesnt even launch now, their must be a problem with the laucnher or background downloader. =(

No offense, but it pays to have the game discs.
I reinstalled my WoW, it's patching as we speak. Good luck, friend. Hopefully you find a way to work around it.

I am having close to the same problem and NO I should not have to uninstall and re-install every large patch that is put out.

I uninstalled it and it wont even reinstall for me. It just fails to launch and does nothing.=/

I'm having the exact same problem. I tried downloading te migration tool from another source and that didn't wok either. It says I don't permission to change the contents of the folder, no matter what folder I try, even though I can download other things to the same locations. I can retry the download ad it seems to go through, but then it deletes itself right away.

Bump, I want an answer to this

Bumping this thread until we get some help. This is getting outrageous Iam seeing tons of others getting responses and solutions but not us. =/
