5.0.4. Patch is missing my screen resolution

Hi there. I'm running a 2010 MacBook Pro with the nVidia 320M graphics card. Upon logging in today, my default resolution of 1280x800 was no longer an option in WoW, and I have been forced to use a different resolution not meant for my screen.

Will this be fixed?

Are you using an external display?

Hello,

I am having an issue with my resolution no longer being shown for selection. I run three screens and it needs to be set around 5040 X 1050 in order for my game to look normal with the three screens. Is this something that will be added later as it was before or will my expensive extreme set-up built around doing this with WOW be thrown to the side? I do not understand why this is no longer there or am I missing something? Otherwise the game looks awful and I no longer have the desire to play it........ Sigh

Try to type this in the Terminal:

defaults write com.blizzard.worldofwarcraft DesktopModeIsDefault 1

To revert:
defaults delete com.blizzard.worldofwarcraft DesktopModeIsDefault

I can definitely confirm that since 5.0.4 the screen resolutions are completely non-standard. Using the above default write doesn't help, just adds even weirder options.

You'd expect something like:
- 800x600
- 1024x768
- 1280x1024
- 1280x720
- 1280x800
- 1440x900
- 1600x1050
- 1920x1200
- 2560x1600

But yet it's something like:

- 854x695
- 1058x805
- 1953x1395

It's really all over the place.

Im having similar issues but im not sure how to access the terminal to begin with (not the most tech savvy person out there). Im playing on an alienware x51 with a gtx 555 using a dvi to hdmi hook up to a 1080p tv. Before the patch i could run with 1920x1080. Now that is not even an option when adjusting the settings in game.

So perhaps a more detailed explaination of how to get to the terminal would be a big help.

Samurantee are you using a external display?

@ Valkenhayne - This workaround was intended forMac Clients, as Terminal is a Mac only program. Soem changes were done to the Mac client that had this side affected. Since you're on a PC, you will want to post in the PC forums for this: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/1011701/

That actually saved my issue thank you very much for the quick response!

Yeah, I'm seeing lots of oddball resolutions, but at least I have 2560x1440. None of the rest make much sense, though. 27" iMac (iMac11,3, OS X 10.8, ATI Radeon HD 5750):

1066x600 (Wide) (they all say (Wide)
1296x728
1490x838
1662x934
1818x1022
1960x1102
2094x1178
2220x1248
2338x1316
2560x1440

Oh, and as near as I can tell, selecting any of those doesn't actually change the resolution of the screen as it used to. There ought to be a "use current screen resolution" setting, anyway that tells it not to try to switch, just use whatever it's currently set to.

@Machkhan As I'm using a Mac Pro tower, yes I am indeed using an external display. Specifically a 30" NEC LCD3090WQXI-BK as primary and a 24" HP LA2405WG as secondary.

No issues prior to 5.0.4.

Thanks;

Oh, thank you for that S4d1k. I've been having this very same issue with an external display since I downloaded the ptr and have been fighting with it on live since patch.

This seemed to fix it (I sent a bug report in game if any further detail is required :)

Just to chime in, I was have the same problem on the Mid 2010 Mac Mini (4,1) using an HDTV hooked up with HDMI cable. System is set at 1360x768 (normal resolution for TV). The above fix works for this Mac Mini.

I have a MBPR and this solution doesn't seem to do anything. It used to be able to set the resolution 1920x1200.

This fixed it for me right away! I was pulling my hair out for like 2 hours trying to figure out what the hell was going on!

Thank you :)
