NVIDIA gtx 570 driver crashing.

I have been getting white, pale yellow, blue and black screens for the past 2-3 days. Also getting a notification that my nvidia kernel driver has crashed, but recovered. I've searched and searched for solutions, tried all suggestions and I can't even play WoW for 10+ minutes now. None of this happens when I am doing anything else on my computer.

I've updated my BIOS, updated drivers, rolled back drivers - nothing is helping.

I've tried all solutions posted on these threads. I think it is quite silly that Blizz would lock a topic because people are still having the same issue from December of last year. It's obvious that this isn't an issue on our end. Any response would be great. My subscription ends on the first and I won't be renewing or getting MoP if this issue isn't fixed by then.

I don't have the same graphics card, but I do have an NVIDIA GeForce card. I changed my full screen windowed mode to true Full Screen mode, and the game didn't crash on me tonight after changing that. So thought it might be worth trying in your situation as well.

I'll give that a try.

No luck, still crashing.

I found something else that may help with figuring out the problem.
My husband and I have the same set up, I had both of us running HW Monitor while playing WoW.
Here's a print screen of mine
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v443/DairTuDreem/temos-1.png

My husbands stayed at a cool 40-50C the entire time.
Since we have the same computers, what could be causing this?

I -think- I may have solved my problem. I cleaned out my heatsink and all my fans. Now I am running 40-50C while playing WoW.

Give that a try, I'll post if I end up crashing again.

Surprise! Just crashed again. Screen went completely white, couldn't alt tab, ctrl-alt-del, or anything. Needed to hard reboot. Temperatures were all with in acceptable ranges.

This only happens when I am playing WoW.

It's always a good idea to clean out your computer periodically. If alot of dust gets in there it will cause things to overheat. Once things overheat, the dmg may already be done.

Cleaning out my computer was the first thing I did when I started crashing. Fortunately, I have really good fans and my pc is in a good spot to stay reglatively dust free and it was clean. Then again, I also have heat monitors and they have always been normal.

Anyway, the fix for me seems to be holding steady. I had changed from running full screen windowed mode to running true full screen mode and i haven't crashed since (knock on wood). I hope that continues... even though I really don't like the true full screen mode.

I normally run on fullscreen and I tried both windowed modes and still crashed. My PC was relatively clean, a little bit of dust accumulated on the heatsink so I cleaned that off. But I still ended up crashing today. I haven't gotten the error that tells me the graphics driver stopped responding, but recovered yet - but I am still getting the complete screen colored out, white this time.

i found out what was causing me errors. and it was an addon.. :S
im running fine now.
hope you can fix your problem

try downloading the beta drivers too and do clean instalation.. then go into nvidia setup and change the configuration to let the application decide
then on manage 3D setting change it from multiple screen, to single display. it could help.

good luck!

Thanks. Yeah I've tried disabling all addons. Currently have the beta version of my driver which was done with a clean installation. /shrug

I am at a loss. Hopefully I'll get a blue response today.

Oh look, happened again. Only this time instead of my screen turning a pretty color, WoW itself just froze up. Couldn't do anything - had to hard reboot.

What is 40-50C when your screen goes the funky colors? CPU or GPU?

Its very possible you've fried your graphics card with the overheating - usually, you don't ignore a BIOs warning about overheating.

EDIT: Saw the image you linked on the Cyberpower forums.. Yeah, theres something seriously wrong with your CPU. Either your heatsink isn't on properly, or theres insufficient/too much thermal paste between the heatsink and the CPU.

My GPU temps have been fine the entire time this ordeal has gone on. My CPU temps were high before, but since I have cleaned my heatsink and fans - the temps have been a lot better. I believe one of the prongs on my heatsink wasn't connected properly before. It must have gotten knocked off a couple days ago because I have only been having this problem for 5 days or so.

Regardless, I am still having the same issue with WoW crashing. My computer runs completely fine otherwise, it's just WoW that I am having issues with.

Are you still spiking into the 90C range?

Can you post a new image from hwmonitor after running wow & hwmonitor for 10 minutes?
