Topic MoP and Darrowmere progression
Tomorrow night... at the training dummies... Be there. All the cool kids will. It's going to be a who's who of Darrowmere.
Also, let's start off the expansion right (a month in advance) by sharing our knowledge with each other, and helping everyone to perform to their best potential. Let's take Darrowmere to #150 this expansion instead of settling for #200.
Everyone please post links to the crucial resources you have found for specific class/specs. I'm not talking the general threads on the forums that have been ongoing since last expansion or when the beta came out. I mean please post links to the most up-to-date, in-depth, reliable, comprehensive, spoon-fed how-to pages, blogs, videos, etc. Or you can copy & paste specific info (and cite your resources if someone wants more info.)
This expansion I personally could give a damn if someone on this realm is better than me at my favorite classes and specs. It just means I have someone I can approach in-game or on the forum to ask for advice. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about the level of teamwork that players and guilds on this realm are capable of, but it doesn't hurt to try. I have decided I would rather be known for my willingness to help others than my unwillingness to share advice that could help someone better themselves and the realm as a whole.
Let's be amazing in this expansion, and let's be amazing together!
(I'll post the awesome Boomkin info that I found when I get home since my bookmarked links aren't on my phone.)
this video is pretty much how to play you class at 95-100% efficiency (assuming you already know you class rotation/mechanics) and applies to all dps classes/specs.
i found this video about a year ago, and i would say it helped me more than any other guide could for doing maximum dps. This video comes from Kripparrian, who used to be one of the best hunters before he quit, holding multiple #1 WoL ranks (or whatever log website he used) throughout Wrath and Cata, so he knows what he is talking about.
probably one of the most important parts of the video starts at 9:21, essentially saying that you need to be self motivated to improve yourself and find the little things that help. this skill should not only apply to WoW, but real life situations, such as work, school, sports, other games, or anything else you do. if you don't want to work for it and dont have the motivation to improve, you will stay at a stand-still.
but thank you phay for making this thread. nice to see that people on this realm care for their teams/realms progress rather than be loot hungry. I have a feeling not as many people will see this as you would like or I would like, but those who do see it could improve a lot, and even the little improvements can make a big difference
C'mon Merican.... Pony up your DK resources! You're one of the people I know without a doubt has kept up with all your class changes. I have always been amazed at your level of knowledge of your spec.
Slak and Quadd, you too. Don't be stingy.
the old post that I/lyon contributed to in terms of unholy, cuz im too lazy to type it all up again
for panda changes, there are very few. the only things (for a single target fight) from 100% health to 35% health with be
A) if you want to maximize dps, you will have to pick blood tap as your lvl 75 talent, since it is about a 1.5% or so increase in dps over runic corruption. also you need to macro blood tap into pretty much every ability you have, probably suggest that you keep additional keybinds for the abilities without bloodtap macroed in incase you are rune capped durring TW/BL or something like that.
B) blood tap will not be available to you unless you talent into it, and the mechanic of it changed to were it no longer has a cooldown, but for each death coil cast, you get 2 (not 100% will check later) charges, stacked up to 12 (once again) and will consume 5 (once again) to create a death rune. has no GCD
C) single target fights you will need to talent for plague leech (tier 1 talent). which will be used once outbreak is off CD for some extra scourge strikes/soul reapers.
once you hit 35% health, its gunna be a whole new ball game. soul reaper is currently (from what i have read) the strongest exicute IN THE ENTIRE GAME when specced as unholy. hitting foaround 230k for a non-crit with either melee or spell portion at 90.
there are some aspects of this ability that need to be kept in mind when in a dungeon/raid encounter.
1) soul reaper has a 6 second cooldown. this means that if you miss, get dodged or get parried, it sets off the cooldown. due to the initial hit for soul reaper being a melee hit, it will be dodged/parried by raid bosses. this means that (according to sims and other resources) expertise will now be our second most valuable secondary stat, next to hit.
2) soul reaper costs 1 unholy rune for unholy. this means that durring your exicute phase, allong with managing timmy, your normal rotation, dark transformation and dark infusion charges, we need also make sure that we have at least 1 unholy/death rune available to us once soul reaper is off cooldown.
3) the second portion of soul reaper's tool tip states "if the target dies before this effect is triggered (the 59k shadow damage 5 seconds after casting the spell) you will gain 50% melee haste for 10 seconds." which is a pretty insane buff for unholy considering its strong value for haste. this means a couple of things.
a) any fight that has adds in it that need to be killed before the boss, you will need to us soul reaper on them off cooldown until it is dead. I am not 100% sure if the damage portion of the haste portion of soul reaper is stronger, but from the looks of it the haste will be. if this is so, that means you need to make sure to save the last soul reaper for within 5 seconds of the adds death (which shouldnt be too hard, considering there is only a 1 second gap between the debuff and cooldown finishing).
b) as mentioned before, you may need to use soul reaper on a target that is about to die rather than a target that is in exicute range but will not die soon. not 100% sure on this, as i have yet to do any testing on the difference.
but other than that long as hell explination for 3 abilities being changed, unholy remains pretty much exactly the same as it is live...... unless you wanna get into pvp then thats a whole different story.

Will the Shatt dummies be up tues? I'm planning on using them as much as possible till panders.
As far as resources I've been using since switching to the ele shammy:
www.totemspot- shaman blog and theorycrafting site
Elementalqt - youtube vids as well as twitch channel.
Since elitistjerks has died mmo champs class sections have really been the best resource of note. There are pre raiding bis for all specs as well as primer guides from blinkn and endus that are worth checking out. Theres a list of racials strength as well as a profession one in another section.
With ele, just like with dks as merican mentioned, rotationally there really hasnt been mych of a change. There are slight priority tweaks based on talent selection. The talents are each fairly strong, however there are different stat weights for each which will make min maxing a !@#$%.
Ill add links later as I'm typing this from a phone.

A lot of people won't have their rotations practicable until 87 or 90. No reason to start getting into bad habits if you can avoid it.
Oh, and the training dummies will be level 93 boss level, meaning you're going to be missing a lot and nothing will hit as hard.
Is Soul of the Forest not recommended at all? If the DPS gain is roughly equal to Incarnation, I'd rather take a passive ability over an activated one, just because I have so damn many buttons on my bar already.
Well I don't see how fumbling through your spell and talent changes on your own for the next month is better than sharing info and resources about all the changes that go into effect tomorrow.
I'm not sure what is happening with Pallys, so maybe your class doesn't have many changes coming and you can afford to not adjust your rotation, but my spec is changing drastically. So that's where I'm coming from on this.
Zinaya, I'm not sure about that, but I see you posted in the Druid forum also, so I'm hoping someone will answer that. I'll be checking to see what they say too.
Raid night was last night and I was super happy with the improvement in my dps. After more practice I'm going to do even better!
Please encourage your Boomkin friends to visit this thread and read my posts because the really do work!
Not spamming Lightning Bolts during down time is weird...
But I too am super happy with some of changes that have been made to my class for Resto. Mana was light but that's because I was spamming Riptide.
Still pissed that my GTFO doesn't work yet. I had no idea of what I was doing.
