Thank you again for posting the information I've asked for. Our network engineers are confident they've isolated the bottleneck, which appears to have been saturated for several hours a day for the past week. They're working with the peering partners to get this resolved as quickly as possible. Thank you very much for your patience.

What does this mean? It means basically too much traffic, and the pathway is a bit too small for it. A traffic jam on a 4 lane road, but, only two lanes are available, but, you can't get through at the rate it's intended at. - Mcfluff of Area 52

UPDATE: Noticed something in common with all the threads reporting. Everyone is using a type of Road Runner ISP (Bright House, RoadRunner, or Time Warner) and is on a New York server.

Hey Blizzard Technical Support, I noticed something is effecting large parts of your player base and has been for the past week making this game simply unplayable. Any sources through Road Runner / Time Warner / Bright House is having trouble connecting to the New York Datacenter.

Examples of the many reports, notice, they're all rr.com services and on New York servers:
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/6521342140 (100+ posts)

Ever since the patch my latency has shot up as hell. It's usually after I see a flood of skill reset things in my chatbox. Some loading screens are long. It's always the same zones I experience it in:
- Ulduar (Yogg Saron fight to be exact. It's fine most of the time)
- Stormpeaks
- Netherstorm
- Tol Barad
- Baradin Hold

My MS shoots up to the thousands. It's the world MS that shoots up high. The home ms has been a little higher than normal, but, is managable.

What my MS used to be:
Home - 7ms
World - 26ms

What it is now normally
Home - 103ms
World - 150 ms

What it is with those huge lagspikes that require a full game reset:
Home - 103ms
World - 2300+ ms

I'm not experiencing:
- Framerate (my framerate is fine 120+ frames)
- Graphics problems (they're fine)
- Capital Cities / Tol Barad fights are FINE.
- Dragon Soul raid is fine.

What's happening:
- Game npcs/spells/etc lags out.
- Chat server works FINE. Everything else works fine.
- These are extremely random but are common place as of yesterday.
- Realm: Area 52
- Others with problems? Several are whining on trade with similar problems.

Getting the exact same problem as of yesterday as well, had a few hiccups from launch of 5.0 now and then, but nothing like the constant disconnects and lagspikes brought upon the last 2 days.

After completely lagging out, sometimes resetting the router will give us a a fine connection for a few minutes, but unerringly the lag will return.

He's the weird part; I play with my girlfriend right next to me and we get the same lag spikes and disconnects and world ms - but it's at different times. I'll be at ~200ms/200ms and she'll be at 200ms/2500ms and lagging out, she can't move, use abilities and everyone is running on the spot for her. Me in the meantime I'm having no issues whatsoever. This situation has also been reversed, with me lagging and her able to play normally. We've obviously both using the same connection, connected to the same router. We both have reasonably high end machines, both very different configurations; can post these if requested but I don't feel that's the problem.

We've changed nothing nor done anything differently, the sudden lag has only started yesterday, which is the same as the OP.

Ok so, I'm on my character, COMPLETELY lagged out, but spamming FoK to test if I'm lagging... Nothing

I look over to my girlfriend's computer, and I can see my character FoK'ing with no delay at all. This is at Darkmoon Faire; so a CRZ, really weird.

100% sure it's Blizzard at this point, because all these people can't be screwing the same thing up on their machines.

I run anywhere from 50-80ms at home.
It's gotten up in the hundreds before, but that's okay. It's manageable and most likely my ISP.

Just today, though, I was in Battle for Gilneas on my DK and was sitting at something like 13k ms. I mean, really? Half the game I was over 5K ms. I figured it was my fault, my addons, ISP, SOMETHING. But no. Checked the fourms to see the mass of complaints.

I haven't bought MoP yet, and now I'm scared to. SO MANY things got screwed up this patch that its making me really nervous about the expansion. :/

I hope you all don't mind, but I'm going to do a single post for all of you.

Jinto:
Your latency increased due to issues in AT&T's network - most likely due to high load due to users coming back to WoW after the major patch. It should level out as AT&T fixes things.

Your world numbers are worrisome, but I can't tell where the problem is, as you only posted a single trace, to your home server. Please also do a trace to 12.129.223.52 while you're experiencing high world latency.

Charliexdee:
You traced to the wrong IP address hun (it was a mistype - correct is 12.129.254.152 ), so I can't get any info out of it whatsoever. However, the fact that your girlfriend sees your spamming just fine, and you don't means it'll be an issue with your system. Either your settings are incorrect, or your computer's wireless connection is very poor.

Deill:
While your home is slightly high (and could indicate an issue closer to your internal network), your world connection is horrible. Please do traces to these 2 separate IP addresses:
199.107.6.180 (Home)
12.129.254.152 (World)

Toffee:
Next time you see high latency like that, do a few tracerts:
206.18.98.208 (Home)
12.129.254.152 (World)

Most likely they'll both show an issue in your ISP's network, or your own home network.

Nayaga:
No information means I have nothing to go on dear. Can you post some tracerts like the others have done?
http://us.battle.net/support/en/article/performing-a-traceroute
206.18.148.216 (Home)
12.129.254.152 (World)

I do have to say however, I'm seeing 27ms home, 27ms world. But my ISP's lead engineer plays Diablo 3 so he's always fixing routes to various Blizzard data centers.

Are you experiencing latency issues right now? Because your traces look fairly decent.. 1 or 2 minor problems which really shouldn't add much latency at all.

I just got out of a Firelands raid where i was completely frozen and couldnt even log out or release spirit. I never had any issues with latency until this patch. And dont say its my ISP because i ran test on it as soon as i got off Wow and im good. Both computers that i have installed WOW on are experiencing this problem....more so in raids. I bet Mop is gonna be one heck of a mess if we have problems now.

My latency (as viewed in wow) goes wildly up and down as I move from SW to a CRZ zone or another zone. I see the blue spam of your "skill has increased", then sometimes I get dc'd, sometime lag goes through the roof, sometimes all the NPC, other players and Mobs disappear. I can fly with no flying mount, really messed up when I leave SW.

As soon as you got off wow.. Which means it could be your router getting overloaded with the new data (which actually happens quite a bit when new patches come out), which you wouldn't see if you weren't running wow AND doing the trace at the same time.

If you truly wish for assistance, stick around, and post some tracerts to your home & world servers WHILE LOGGED INTO WOW and seeing poor latency. Otherwise, I'd recommend you read through the CRZ thread (read the first post please)
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/6521292325?page=1
and then post your thoughts on it there, as this is NOT the place for griping about CRZ.
