Not sure, well either way she is being corrupted by it, guess we get to find out who gave it to her or if she just happened upon it.

tvtropes pointed something out to me.
While the other real villains (Nightmare Moon, Discord, and Chrysalis) spent about an episode trying to make the elements not work (with varying levels of success), Sombra nearly won entirely with pre-planning. He was not even inside the crystal empire until the last second and nearly won.
What does that say about Discord and Chrysalis who spent at least an episode making sure the elements can't be used?

In my opinion since Sombra had almost no REAL screentime, some of the episodes of Season 3 are Sombra-related, for example this week's upcoming Magical Duel episode.
