Topic Cosplaying Advice Needed!
Hello, my friend and I are both planning on attending Comic Con in 2013, and we want to make costumes of our World of Warcraft characters.
However, the armor and such is rather complicated, and we are contemplating on what to use for the construction of her mage's staff (she will be going as her Draenei mage) and my hunter's rifle (I'm going as my Goblin hunter).
So, we are in need of some advice on where to go with all of these things. We know we're probably going to go to the Halloween store to buy a few things while they're cheap.
For my friend's costume, she needs advice on how to make the horns and how to make her staff.
I need advice on where to get the ears for my goblin, or how to make them, and where I can find a good fake rifle or how to make that as well.
We're also looking for good face paint and good materials to make our armor out of.
Any help is appreciated greatly. We want to make sure these costumes are as accurate as they can be, to the best of our ability, of course.
As for ears, this is where I will be getting mine from [for blood elf]
They're quality is amazing and are really amazing to handle customer service wise!
They're pricy BUT it is well worth it, since most ears you buy ONCE and they rip etc.
[these are the ears I would suggest for gobby ears]
You could always ask if they could possibly do some sort of paint for an extra fee to make them the shade you need.
As for the body makeup, I know face wise I would suggest getting something off here. Theater makeup kits worked real well for me in the past, especially since like Night Elves etc have varied skin colors.
[the place with the ears also has a kit if you need just stuff for your face, http://www.aradanicostumes.com/make_up/RMG_creature_stack]
A fake rifle: I would look for something in a toy section. Nerf guns etc then build off of it with either some sort of sculpy/clay or other material you'll use. Just don't use TOO MUCH sculpy or anything heavy otherwise it'll be a pain in the !@# to carry around all day if you're doing a full days worth of cosplaying.
Armor for anything shoulder wise I would suggest looking into football padding. You can build armor off of that with either vaccuformed plastic or other leather etc. Pleather even, I haven't had many issues with that before custome wise. Really depends on how you're using it.
Staff wise, I'm still figuring out a good system for staves. I'm going to be creating a priest cosplay for this coming march. It'll depend on what staff you pick to see what materials will work best for you guys.
hope that helps!
