Bad luck with groups
|
Every so often i get unlucky with my random groups.
This alt is my new warrior tank that i am leveling up to 85 via RDF as a pure tank. Is there a way to get out of a bad group ''safely'' without being penalised for it? For instance, Blackrock Caverns was my last random dungeon, where a death knight dps was doing some pretty annoying things. I was unable to pass the vote kick ticket, and i didnt want to be penalised for actions out of my control. I am not going to detail every wrong that he did to shame him - rather i would like to be able to leave the group and requeue for another dungeon. Since i cannot kick him, with the group refusing to pass the vote, i am left with getting out of the group as a solution. If i leave the group on my own, i get penalised with deserter debuff for 30 minutes preventing me from queueing up in the RDF. If i intentionally do something stupid (such as the above death knight's actions) in order to be kicked out of the group, i also get slapped with the deserter debuff. I would rather not have to stick it out with a greifer in my group, so what are my options? |

If you want to be a really good tank, you'll suffer through the bad groups and learn from them.

This is true, for healers as well. From what I understand, after you wipe or kill a boss you are free to leave the group without penalty. |

Not an option. Besides, what are you going to learn? That Smallballs tauren death knight was a moron? If you want to be a really good tank, you'll suffer through the bad groups and learn from them. So if i stick it out until after at least one boss, i can freely get out without blizz penalising me. |
You learn to not depend of the dps and healers. But i guess as a warrior you still depend a lot of healers >.> |

Just had a group where a HOLY paladin was pulling with Denounce, along with a hunter with a pet on aggresive with Growl enabled and a dps warrior running off ahead of me.
My number 1 rule on my paladin tank, is you pull it - you tank it. They died a few times as i just skipped right over whatever they pulled, waited for them to finish 'tanking' their trash before pulling the next trash. I stayed with the group, only because it was quite amusing watching them pull... and subsequently die. |
Quite honestly, blizzard is not resposible for everything that happens in the game, much less what the players do. You're giving them a very unfair treatment. |

To reduce my frustration when things like this happen, or when anything in game starts to get me frustrated, I try and remember that it is not the other players responsibility to play the game the way I want it played. It my sole responsibility to make my game fun.
In the situation the op mentioned I would have left the group and quested to burn off the debuff timer. If I am questing and I get frustrated with other people taking mobs that I need for a quest item or something like that, I work on any professions I have that need leveling or go through my inventory and clean out useless items. There are so many things to do in this game that I have never ran out of an alternative to whatever activity I am currently doing. Another option I have done is just turn the game off and go do something else for a day or two or three. I come back and little things don't annoy as much anymore. |

You can either wait it out for 15 minutes until the fear of a deserter debuff is gone, or you can stick it out through the first boss. Once one of those two things have happened, you can leave without issue.

While playing my tank I've learned the power of simply waiting.
If someone is pulling after I've asked them not to - I simply wait, and let them tank it. If they want to argue about it - I say "okay wait let's hold up then until we solve this" Just keep your healer alive and be ready to wait. Remember - impatience can be turned against itself. |
Whenever I want to leave a group, I start going through my entire pet collection, one by one, and for each one I say what I really like about it is. I like the cut of your jib. |

Not an option. Besides, what are you going to learn? That Smallballs tauren death knight was a moron? What I've learned is how to deal with people who aren't doing the right thing and keep the group alive. Or the rest of the group. Or when to just suck it up and take the debuff. And when to tell which of those things is my best option at the time. |

Just had a group where a HOLY paladin was pulling with Denounce, along with a hunter with a pet on aggresive with Growl enabled and a dps warrior running off ahead of me. Thank F for that!!! While playing my tank I've learned the power of simply waiting. Oh Snowfox, always the forum hermit that uplifts the mood of things. The healer is and always has been my number 1 priority. After playing one for 6-7 years, i know what it is like. My grief is 99% of the time NOT with them, but with others. Whenever I want to leave a group, I start going through my entire pet collection, one by one, and for each one I say what I really like about it is. O M G BRILLIANT!!! EDIT - Wow forums dont take kindly to multi-quoting. |

Yep, after playing a healer for so long I've come to an understanding with tanks.. and I share that same understanding in reverse. My tank's pacing is the healer's mana bar. My tank's job is to keep the healer alive. On my tank the rule is "Keep the healer alive, whatever it takes." On my healer the rule is "Keep the tank alive first. Keep myself alive next. Keep the dps alive last." On my dps the rule is "if the healer has mana the tank should be pulling and I should be killing." |

I use a similar system. 1. Make sure my life is stable. 2. Make sure the tank's life is stable. 3. Make sure the others lives are stable. 4. Make sure the tank's life is high. 5. Make sure my life is high. 6. Make sure the others lives are high. After all, if I go down, no one is getting any heals. |

Deliberately get them killed
Should be easy to get yourself transformed on Corla, keep the 3rd boss in the fire, pull the extra dog for Beauty, etc The only way you get the deserter debuff for being kicked is if you are out of the instance when you get kicked. |
