Here's to hoping the Glorious United Troll Empire stays a powerful non-playable third faction.

That was one isolated example deep in Alliance territory and doomed no matter what. Offshoots of the Forest Trolls in the Hinterlands, however, have long enjoyed protection and membership within the Horde.

Siding with the Horde is only a possible out, but it's the only chance any given troll has. Anything else?

You will serve the Horde or be crushed beneath it. Or by the Alliance, and maybe even STILL by the Alliance if you're not important enough.

Actually being allied with the Horde isn't enough to make a Troll tribe safe as the Shatterspear proved. Pretty much any Troll tribe without the foresight to be Darkspear is potentially on the chopping block.

Eh out of four tribes that joined the Horde, one destroyed, they have a higher survival rate

Four?

Darkspear, Revantusk, Shatterspear, and what?

The no-name one of which Jon-Jon Jellyneck is a member which joined the Horde in the Twilight Highlands?

Yeah, which I am dubbing Jelly-Neck until we get a confirmation of the name (Which is never)

Supposingly, the Darkspear have began recuitng Zandalari, but that may be a oversight

The couple Horde friendly Zandalari NPCs in Stranglethorn (Bambala and Hardwrench Hideaway), I assume.

According to Wowpedia, several Zandalari remain friendly towards the players. Surkhan, Ghaliri, Chabal and Maywiki are all friendly, and all have ties to the Darkspear Tribe.

Probably holdovers from when the revamped ZG was just supposed to be "Zul'Gurub Part 2: Jin'do's Revenge" as opposed to a small part of a far larger story. The first version of the 4.1 questline and ZG heroic to hit the PTR even had Zandalari protagonists before they were switched over to Darkspear in a later build.

There will never be another united Troll empire, they are far to behind the technological curve.

By the time the Darkspear ever got one togeather they would be crushed by ( then ) the Alliances far superior tech.

Yeah, spears and wood shields do reeeeeaaaal well against armored Tanks, planes, and massive flying Aircraft carriers.

The Darkspear have already phased out spear and axe throwers for riflemen by the time Tides of War rolled around.

The alleged technological gap is no longer a real issue.

But I mean is any of that REALLY original to the Trolls tech progression? They don't boast anything much more than riflemen, especially not on a mass scale.

I'm not harshing on the Trolls here, but the tech gap is and will be an issue for them. Sure they have riflemen now, but the Alliance had that for decades, and the Dwarves have had guns for thousands of years.

The Alliance already has metal armored Steamboats, and Tanks, and flying Aircraft carriers.

Sure the Trolls are not at the bottom of the tech ladder, but they are no were near the Alliance on it either.

What they don't have in technology they make up with in other arts of war. The Trolls have always had sheer ferocity and a connection with the mystical. It's hard to get and accurate measure of how things play out when the outcomes of wars are story driven instead of being based on logic alone.

Well, a single tribe of Ice Trolls destroyed several Dwarven Tanks with noting but Spears, Shields and Voodoo Magics, and they threatened the near by dwarven village, to the point they needed elite soldiers to stop the trolls.

war tech and other tech are two different things. also magic makes a rock tied to a stick equal to or greater than a tank in WC.

darrakki had the most advanced irrigation system in game by far, but still used mainly bow and arrow over guns.

what does tech have over magic? when both exist.
