With a number of popular outside programs created to help in the capture of our beloved pets, it is rather easy to see the rarity of creatures the moment you enter combat. While this helps you to decide which, if any, you are going to capture, at the same time it allows people to flee a fight if there is nothing in the battle that they would like to capture.
While this is not a problem on it's own, when you have people trying to find only rare pets, fleeing from any battle that does not contain their prey of choice, they can clear out an area of all possible pet battles in short order. This makes it difficult for other people to complete achievements or to simply gather pets. I will not go into the argument on the rarity of pets and the difficulty in finding them, I would like to request a change be made.
Give players that 'flee' from combat with a battle pet a debuff that will prevent them from initiating another fight with pets for 5 or 10 minutes. This will force players to 'fight' and not cherry-pick the best pets, while allowing other people to try and find some pets in an area.
Blizzard definitely needs to tweak the system here but I suggest either an instant re-spawn or prevent the pet from de-spawning until it is defeated (thus those hunting are encouraged to defeat via forcing re-spawns).
I think hunting for the right pet is part of the allure if you are now forced to complete every encounter of poor/common it only delays the thrill of that hunt since you will get bogged down way too much.
Above all I would like to see a system of increasing or leveling the quality of your pet. Say every 5 levels it will scale up, this means people will aim to capture pets at around level 10 so they could ensure rare quality by 25, it also emphasizes leveling pets as opposed to just capturing high level pets.
Maybe every 100 pet battle wins will increase your pets quality?
No. Just no. Increase the spawn rates, especially in CRZs. I've cleared slow-spawning areas by actually fighting everything in the area, all by myself, without overpowering the enemy. Just up the spawn rates so they spawn the same way they quest mobs do, and you'll see a lot fewer problems finding things.
I really am rather shocked that there is not a Daily token system with rare/unique skin pets, bandages, and a way to upgrade your pets already implemented into the game. With how many daily quests/reputation grinds there are in MoP, they really let a perfect place for one slip through.
