Can you post full system specs?

    1. Launch World of Warcraft and log in.
    2. Put World of Warcraft into Windowed Mode if it is not already in Windowed Mode.
    3. From the system menu bar, select Help > Copy Support Information: http://i45.tinypic.com/foodww.png
    4. Paste the contents of the copied system information here (Command-V)

Also, try rebuilding your game caches and see if it helps.

    1. Navigate to /Applications/World of Warcraft
    2. Move the WTF, Cache and Interface folders to the desktop
    3. Now go into the Data folder and delete the Cache folder
    4. Navigate to /Users/Shared and delete the Battle.net folder
    5. Launch the World of Warcraft Launcher. Let all updates apply and hit Play when Game is up to date is displayed.

Can you do me a favor and see if there is anything spamming your repair-on-demand.log? I've seen this cause a few FPS issues since it is repeatedly trying to repair stuff.

The log is located in /Users/Shared/Battle.net/Agent/Agent.1363/Logs. Make sure you remove your computer/user name from the logs.

How did you ever get 60 FPS in MoP? The best I can get on medium settings is about 23-26.

Same issue here. Game played as usual up till last night. Playing for first time today (currently 8:30 CDT) and my fps is hovering about 9 fps outside, and was somewhere around 10 fps in Darnassus, and I *know* that zone isn't graphically demanding.

A user with 10.7.5 (freshly updated) and a MBP with graphics switching capability has also had this issue.

Have all of you folks here checked to make sure you aren't running on the Intel HD4000 chipset? You should be running on the dedicated GPU.

You should check to see which graphics card you are currently using if you have this issue again in WoW.

This article shows how to check that setting for your MBP:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4152

And here is how to reset it, if you have forgotten how (usually people set it and forget it):

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4110

Let us know if this helped, or if the problem still persists after checking/resetting your graphics card preferences.

You may also wish to try out the gfxCardStatus app to see if you can benefit from the manual graphics card switching capability that the OS does not allow for.

You can find info on that here:

http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/macbook-pro-unibody-faq/macbook-pro-unibody-switching-between-graphics-processors.html

I am posting this because the common thread between all of the problem setups here is that you are all on graphics switching capable laptops, and the symptoms are very much in line with your graphics card being set to the integrated GPU instead of the discrete (dedicated) GPU.

It's worth a shot for troubleshooting purposes.

I'm in full-screen and my resolution is usually the 19xx x 12xx or the 21xx x something else I don't recall at the moment. That's where I set it where I can keep settings at ultra and pull in 35-50 fps (where I have it capped). On a side note, I'm hoping with future changes to the drivers, that performance will improve (I think I've seen mention of that around these boards).

I did do an SMC reset and that has resolved my issue for the moment, although I'm still confused as to the cause. I had a similar issue with Diablo 3 after the 1.0.4 patch, and I had to reset the SMC to get the fps to bounce back up. When I was getting the 11 fps before, that was even ensuring that the 650m was running and not the HD 4000. So cross my fingers that it holds...

I'm on a MacBook as well and not only am I getting the FPS drop on WoW, I get it on Diablo. This is really a normal thing now, with Macs and BattleNet. I have been dealing with this since the launch of Diablo 3. The odd thing is that, I think Blizz knows something is up on those days when they announce a reboot of realms. Maybe its another reason entirely, but it always seems to fix the lag issue. See what happens after your realm restarts tomorrow. There is really no choice right now.

Yeah, and that's really the issue. BattleNet causes our machines to switch back. The games always initiate the discrete GPU but then switch us back to integrated. You can tell too. The fan shuts off and your FPS just falls. I am still using 10.6.8.

Use the articles to your advantage. By disabling the automatic graphics switch, you are manually forcing the use of the discrete GPU instead of the integrated GPU. That should prevent the switchover.

Here's what I found to work from this thread. Go to your Energy Saver preference. Turn OFF Automatic Graphic Switching checkbox. REBOOT your computer, because Blizz has already screwed thing up permanently for the boot you're on.

Relaunch WoW...all fixed. You'll find your computer gets hot as hell, but that framerate stays up.

Thanks guys for the fix.

I tried the above fix, setting the graphics to not switch between cards and restarted. It was okay until the evening when server population hit peak. Now with graphics all the way down, I'm lagging everywhere I turn. My frame rate will bounce from 53 to 31 to 59 to 19, so on and so forth, as I try to move around. Any other thoughts?
