Most classes have burst damage capabilities in one form or another - that is, the ability to put out high damage quickly. Different classes learn these skills at different levels, though.

Your ability to kill things quickly in order to level quickly is also dependent on how much you understand and enjoy a class. The more a class "clicks" with you, the better you'll be at it, and the faster you'll be able to mow down mobs.
