There is only one similar talent tier and that is the mage bomb tier, and these are still much better as the mage talent tier does not just because an arbitrary button every 15 seconds, minute, 2 minutes, etc. but instead weave into the base mage rotation, being either up at all times or not up at all.
Hunters talents on the other hand are a completely different story:
A murder of crows - Damage, just damage... on a 2 minute cooldown with a fancy CD reduction on targets below 20% health.
Blink strike - Damage plus a pet charge, seems useful but the charge effect really doesn't translate to anything except damage in a PvE situation, especially with the charge effect on kill command. So once again we have a plain old simple button that we are balanced around using on cooldown.
Lynx rush - Damage, just damage... once again... on a 1.5 minute cooldown. It also is unreliable single target damage when there is another enemy or add within range of the pet.
Glaive toss - Seems to be the go to talent in this tier for PvE. It's once again... just damage. A 30% snare in PvP on a 15 second cooldown that is unreliable one slopes or near buildings where the glaives can somehow not reach their target.
Powershot - 8 auto shots on a 1 minute cooldown with a 3 second cast time. Need I say more? 4 auto shots against targets in between the hunter and the target. Unreliable against moving targets in PvP as it doesn't follow the target but instead fires at the position the target was in when the cast time was finished, causing it to be dodgeable just like traps. The knockback is the only reason to take this talent and glyph of explosive trap is vastly superior.
Barrage - 6.4 auto shots on a 30 second cooldown with a 3 second channel time. With the added effect of 3.2 auto shots to surrounding targets. Not even a nifty snare or knockback type thing on this ability, just damage.
PvE wise, these talents are nothing but damage and are extremely lackluster in PvP as once again they are just damage but now with unreliable side effects.
The worst part about these pointless talents? Our dps is balanced around them. They are considered part of our rotation, so not only do we not get utility from them but we don't even get to have a leg up on other dps, which would be expected. These talent trees were supposed to give us the option of utility. But these two tiers of talents as they are right now are incredibly lackluster, even compared to other class tiers like rogue tier 6.
I know that it seems neat and fun to throw glaives at people and bosses but I much rather have some real talents that actually do something instead of just dps abilities that I am balanced around taking.
