I'm Ready to Start Raiding
|
But my guild is not.
The Raid Leader is still lvl 85. The Guild Leader decided to level his profession alt first... so that he could make gold, not to help the guild bank get stocked for raids. His raiding toon is level 87. I took this Monk from lvl 1 to 90 in a week. I started Tuesday at midnight, and was 90 by that following midnight, just mere hours after the raid was released. I know it wasn't the fastest way to level ever, but I did it. And now I'm geared (beyond geared, actually) and ready to raid. How long do you wait? I'm not alone. Several others in the guild are itching to get to raiding, too, but it's not enough to just jump into it. Or to break away and form our own guild. I don't think I'd want that kind of responsibility anyway. But... How long do you wait before you decide that the guild just isn't moving at your pace and it's time to jump ship? |

Have you considered raiding as a PuG with other guilds on your realm until your guild catches up or until you PuG into a guild you like all around more?

The Horde side of my realm is very small, and nobody is pugging right now. The only pugs I can find is for Sha of Anger, and that's usually broken up pretty quickly by the Alliance getting there first before we can even pull. I've been keeping an eye out, but it just seems very dead.

Can you raid cross-realm with vaults?
If so, I may be able to find a spot for you this week or next. Otherwise, I'll just say we're looking for another dps or two for our raid group. We're not super duper zomgawesome, but we're relaxed, relatively competent, and have fun. |

You leave now, and with no regrets. Your GL is just not on the same page as you, and will not lead you to where you want to go. Given that you don't have a huge track record of raiding on that account, I suggest finding a home with an established raiding guild rather than trying to lead your own |

Only you know how long is too long to wait.
Ask the guild leader when he plans to start raiding. If you do not like the answer Move on. if your choices are few on your server, there are other servers Good luck |
Can you raid cross-realm with vaults? I honestly don't know the answer to this, but apparently my complaining in guild chat once I stopped being worried about a guild kick (I'm kind of over it at this point) finally has us setting a raid schedule... with half of us from my guild, and the other half from another guild who has "left overs." To be honest, I'm worried that I'm getting into an alt group that is going to be dipped into for the other guild's main group whenever they have missing mains... And on top of that, it begs the question: If the only way I'm raiding is with another guild, is there any reason to stick around with this one? Sigh.
I have zero GL experience, so you picked up nicely on that. However, every guild I've been in, starting with my first guild when I first managed to get a character over lvl 60 right before the end of WotLK, I've ended up an officer and a RL. I'm pretty good at catching onto mechanics, and I like to think I'm a bit of a natural raider, despite my lack of yearly experience. (I've had experience in this game and SWTOR, so I feel like I wasn't just being spoon fed in Cata and that's the only reason why it felt it went so well... but eh, who knows until I actually get the chance to raid something else, right?) I'm going to see how this co-existing relationship with this other guild is going go to go first... but I am definitely not holding my breath. Especially when this other guild is kind of known for trolling and has a bad rep, so I'm really kind of worried. Only you know how long is too long to wait. Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, my financial situation as well as my lack of expertise in raiding doesn't support server transfers, just because if I were to server transfer, I'd like to go to a really nice guild... and I doubt I'm quite qualified to just be let in like that. But I've finally spoken up in guild chat about this beyond just a few mentions in the Officer Chat about how, "if we drag our feet any longer, we're going to start losing raiders who want to do something." And now... something's happening. I guess we'll just see how it goes. |

Your current situation doesn't sound promising. If I were in your shoes, I'd be looking for a regular raiding spot in another guild.

So you want to raid, and you currently find yourself in some kind of shaky alliance with leftovers from some other guild with a bad reputation that is known for trolling? This sounds like a recipe for drama and disaster. Think of it this way - imagine you were, for whatever reason, without a guild. Would you willingly walk into that situation, or would you look around a little harder for something more stable? Find something that works you for - don't shove the square peg in the round hole just because you don't want to change guild tags |

I agree with Siantha... again.
You obviously have a different pace setting than your guild. You will always feel dragged down. Just say nicely to them that you want a quicker pace and you'll check in from time to time with them. If you leave on good terms you can come back later if you change your mind. |
