i dont know if it was announced or something, but do onyx eggs spawn on Windward Island anymore? because i was flying around for more then 2 hours to every known egg spawn and didnt find a single one. And there was like no one there at all. i mean i know its suspose to be a grind but ou need around 70 to get to exalted if you only did first days worth of quests and 2 hours and not finding one is kind of a problem. i mean if i found like 2 or 3 i wouldnt be scratching my head but none in 2 hours with no people is kind of broken. also the people who got their mounts in the first few hours of being 90 get to keep their mounts while we get screwed shouldnt they have their rep rolled back or something? they did it for people who rushed to 90, which they only get an achivement for this they rushed for and used broken spawn rates to get an actual item so shouldnt this get rolled back just the same? just my thoughts

They have an abysmal spawn rate. That is all.

well they didnt at the start of MOP saw people with the mount a day or 2 after they hit 90 which means they got tons of eggs in a short time so spawn rate was much higher why are we getting screwed now and they arent?

I think they reduce the spawn rate, cause when MoP came out ppl that hit 90 already got the mount so fast. So now the spawn rate is very very low...

I found one earlier today, so they're still there. I read somewhere actually that they did nerf the spawn rate because some people were ballparking 30 an hour.

I didn't see any this morning for an hour, then saw 3 in a row to finish out exalted. I think Blizz is trolling us.

I tend to find 3-4 eggs in an hour, and then don't find any for another hour. So now my strat is to find 3-4 and do something else.

I've had a lot of luck with the eggs that are on the ground. people seem to skip them a lot.

I farmed my drake the day after MoP came out, in 2 hours, because of the fact I knew the zone would be ridiculously crowded. There's no reason for me or anyone else to be penalized for obtaining the mount before there was competition. You should be happy; those who did it earlier are less competition for you now.

People got them at the start of MoP because as soon as they were 90 they went and farmed the eggs and got the mount in a few hours because there was barely any competition.

I am afraid I have bad news for players that are farming Onyx Eggs.

There are programs (aka Hacks) that read the memory and inform the player on it's spawn location and number of eggs in the area.

I would say there are lotsa farmers using this hack.

I had my jade serpent mount two days into the launch thanks to knowing about the eggs ahead of time by doing a little research on the new factions. Being the 5th or so 90 on my server and being able to fly before a lot of people hit 90 or knew about the eggs was a huge advantage. The rest of my guild mates who I had told about this chose to slow boat to 90 and now complain every day that they can't find eggs.

All I can say is you snooze you loose in this case, sorry about your luck but keep trying. Even one or two a day will shorten the week long grind to exalted.

I found 23 over several hours farming last weekend. I even had competition. Now the spawn rate is really to low. maybe expanding the spawn area to include all the offshore "mountains" off that coast and boost the rate a little.

Yes, they spawn. I've found four of them so far.

Helpful tip: Get the GatherMate2 add-on, along with GatherMate2_Data. Open options for the add-on and go to import "Treasure" (which is what GatherMate2 classifies the eggs as). You'll get every spawn point everyone else using the add-on has found, making farming somewhat easier.

Also, look UNDER the grass. The eggs are rather small and spawn underneath the grass on the island a lot of the time.

@Altamira; actually the spawn rate was bugged and was multitude times faster than was intended. So the OP has an excellent point. You can spin it your way to sound like you earned it rightfully; but you didn't and it has been since fixed and clarified by a blue post...smh

@Grubby; same thing as I posted for Altamira; you aren't special for getting to 90 before most people when the farm rate was bugged!

Low spawn rate + increasing number of players reaching 90 = about the same chances of finding an egg as when we were grinding Netherwing rep.

It's frustrating, yes. But the eggs are bonuses, not required. They just speed things up a bit.

The thing to realize in this game is you can have nearly anything for nothing more than time expenditure. You may not see Heroic end-boss mounts (achievement-based ones), and you may not see PvP mounts, and RNG is RNG (damn you, Brewfest Kodo!), but otherwise, most everything, whether gold, items or whatever, can be had with nothing more than time expenditure.

The spawn rate took it right in the dooker.

i have been looking for a little over 2 weeks now and i have yet to find an egg. i been grinding out dailies but even if i can find like 2-3 a week that would still shorten my grind because i really really want that mount.
