Low FPS/Performance Issues [formerly @known issues (10/8) update]

I don't see the framerate issues on that list. WoW in cata ran at 60 FPS for me at full retina display. Now it's 30 FPS at a way lower display also with low settings.

Does this mean you don't think WoW is the cause of the low framerate? Or do you just not know enough. I see lots of complaints about this but no answers :(.

Just wasn't some help :)

I would love a refund but I know that isnt going to happen

the frame rate issue did not happen to me after mop was installed. it happened about 2-3 days after

I have disabled all addons, tried various suggested fixes and some of them made things worse

I was really hoping blizzard would have it fixed by today but once again I guess I wont be playing

This is something that is being investigated. The known issues on the post are official confirmed issues/bugs. We'll need more info to see what is going on, along with troubleshooting to eliminate various factors.

Have y'all tried to rebuild game caches and remove all temp files/addons and see if it works? Disabling addons isn't the same, as they can still cause issues when disabled.

    1. Navigate to /Applications/World of Warcraft
    2. Move the WTF, Cache and Interface folders to the desktop
    3. Now go into the Data folder and delete the Cache folder
    4. Navigate to /Users/Shared and delete the Battle.net folder
    5. Launch the World of Warcraft Launcher. Let all updates apply and hit Play when Game is up to date is displayed.

Make sure you play test with no addons installed and see how it works.

Can y'all provide the following?

    1. When did this issue first start? (date or estimation of date if possible)
    2. Does the low FPS persist in Windowed, Fullscreen and Windowed mode?
    3. What FPS are you experiencing in-game when this happens?
    4. When does the low FPS start? (immediately when starting the game, after 'X' time of gameplay, etc)
    5. Have you've done all the steps (including playtest with no addons installed) from our World of Warcraft Low Performance (Mac) support article?
    6. Please post a copy of your config.wtf file on http://pastebin.com/ and link the url here. The config.wtf file is located in /Applications/World of Warcraft/WTF. This can be opened with TextEdit.
Note: Make sure to remove your Battle.net email address and any WoW user account names from the log.
    7. Does this happen on the 32-bit client, 64-bit client, or both clients?

Finally, please post your system information here.
    1. Launch World of Warcraft and log in.
    2. Put World of Warcraft into Windowed Mode if it is not already in Windowed Mode.
    3. From the system menu bar, select Help > Copy Support Information: http://i45.tinypic.com/foodww.png
    4. Paste the contents of the copied system information here (Command-V)

Remember, let's keep this thread related to low FPS. If you're having other issues not related to low FPS/performance, please create another thread so we can better assist you.

1) 9/25/2012
2) Low fps persist in all modes. I get better fps when I shirk the window size (but i dont want to play wow like mine sweeper lol)
3) When I play at full settings and retina resolution (disabled sunshafts and shadows i get 50-60fps) Right now I play on LOW with only View and Particles set on High. Resolution I play on is 1770x1106, the lower I make it, the better FPS I get, as long as I keep everything on LOW.
4) Low FPS starts immediately
5) Did some of this but not all, I will try tonight and update
6) http://pastebin.com/pTKuUib7
7) Actually the 32 bit client Just now gave me 60fps on all GOOD settings. My low FPS happens on 64 bit.

I would like to add that I noticed that while inside an Inn no matter where (goldshire, duskwood, westfall etc…) my frames would go back to 60 but if I angled my camera view to show myself looking through the doorway at my character the frames would drop

Also I entered a dungeon and did not have any fps issues

hope I didn't miss anything. troubleshooting is exhausting

1. 10/27/12. I remember the first two days I had no issues, and this started occurring that day when I was in the middle of exploring Kun-Lai.

2. It is occurring in all modes, but lessens in windowed mode.

3. I am going down to 18 FPS. This machine had no problem going at 60 FPS before this started occurring.

4. It starts a few minutes in, and then happens on and off. It has been really bad now with a another character I am using in Jade Forrest, which I am using at the end of the day.

5. Done everything listed and still no improvements.

1. About 10/27/2012 as well... game ran great the first couple days after the expansion... then it all went to hell and I have to drop everything to "fair" in order to get over 20 fps.

2. All modes. I get a couple FPS more in windowed mode but nothing that I would call "better" by any means.

3. approx 20. Before issues started I could run 60 without any issues.

My FPS says its fine, but my latency is out of hand. I log in, everything is dandy, I move 2-3 steps, NPC's disappear, critters, you name it, or everything around me freezes and locks up. I can still use chat, but I have to shut WoW completely down to get moving again. Sometimes the freeze starts up and my latency and FPS are both reading normal.

1. The issue first started for me after the realm restart on Oct. 3 at around 10:00 am. Since today's realm restart the issue has been much, much worse.

2. Yes. Does it in all 3 forms.

I'm having the same issue. today my frame rate is between 4 and 11FPS. It's insane. I have the new MacBook Pro retina,2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, memory is 26 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB, and of course latest updates installed always . My internet is fast here, around 50.

I've tried everything you guys suggested and it's bad. It started after MOP was released, but then last week, it felt better, then went really bad last night right before the world server went down and it's horrid today.

1. This issue started today, 11 oct 2012 though I think I was experiencing this last night as well. I was only online for a short time and I was sleepy.
2. the issue persists in all modes. strangely, turning down my settings (no res change) doesn't seem to actually effect FPS at all.
3. I am experiencing < 10 FPS. 2 days ago I was experiencing high 30s to low 40s in a (mostly) high play setting.
4. low FPS starts as soon as I log in.
5. I have not, but this is a very fresh install (roughly one week). I will go through these tests.

2. Low FPS persists in all modes
3. FPS drops to ~13 on 'Good' settings in 25m raids, with some stuttering. Around 20 otherwise. (Much lower than before MoP.) Setting the system settings to 'Low' gives about 3 more fps in 25m raids.
4. Low FPS starts immediately.
5. I just did all the steps listed in the article, with the playtest. In Orgrimmar with no addons, on 'Good' settings, I was averaging about 25 FPS.

I just changed the channel on my router, having no issues yet. Will let you know if it changes.
I have a Macbook Pro, ~2 1/2 years old. I notice that if I close out any programs running in the background, Firefox especially, my FPS goes from around 25-30 with Good to Low settings up to 40+ with Good to Low settings. I usually restart the computer after closing all programs and then open up wow by itself. Marked improvement. Conversely, if I have several tabs open in firefox, I get not just lower FPS but spikes where fps drops to 10, or the screen freezes. Also, full-screen gives better fps than windowed. Now we just have to figure out why.

Edit: tl;dr Close all other applications, restart and play in full screen mode for significantly improved fps.

Has there been any update on the status of this problem? Do we have to wait for a driver update from apple?

So today I logged on to wow on my macbook pro retina after not playing for 2 or 3 days cause of a trip, and my framerate was running 12-14fps on the same settings I had been running before at 30-50fps. I'm assuming it's related to everyone else's problem here, I hope there will be a fix soon. 12-14fps is absolutely unplayable for me. Could this just be a graphics card problem, or is it something on blizzards end? It's just strange that it was working perfectly fine a few days ago!
