"Go go go!"

K Barfus, between us in the master race of Human, how did you get to honoured? I'm 360 behind you, which means 3 quests with Guild perk and master race. Any ideas what I might have missed? Did Shado-pan have quests in Krasarang or something? |
Sha of Anger quest item? I found out yesterday that that gives Shado-Pan rep. My human pally went from Friendly to 306 into Honored. On topic, the only times I ever have people telling me to pull faster are leveling in certain BC dungeons. If I pulled as fast as I normally do I'd end up MC'd and kill the entire party all the while screaming in party chat "Kill the totem! Kill the totem!" Not that they ever listen to me. |
Yeah, it doesn't help though when dps A runs and face pulls a the next group the second you engage while dps B pulls a group no where near the path you need to go. That's usually when I kill them all. I mean, it's the mind control. Totally the mind control. |
I think you misread what I wrote. It's not a matter of time. It's a matter of dps ignoring stuff that's pulled and pulling on their own while combat is going on. Mind you this happens rarely but on occasion I've seen it. |

Excellent.
Too many Sha's, I don't remember who I've killed, and who is where. :( |

This. So much this. If your healers are telling you to pull faster, you are an awfully slow tank. Being slow at pulling isn't as bad as tanking horribly wrong, but slow pullers also have slow reaction times, in my experience - and a tank with a slow reaction time is a bad tank. So maybe I'm slow at pulling in a dungeon that I'm not familiar with, with mechanics I'm still getting used to ;) Doesn't mean I've got slow reaction times. Just means I'm cautious. Especially the first few pulls of a dungeon where I'm still feeling out my healer and DPS, I'm not gonna assume they're awesome and overpull from the start. I've seen a lot of tanks just start beelining down the hall as soon as they load in without regards to buffs, possible spec changes, etc etc. I don't want to be that kind of tank, but it feels like that's what a lot of people expect. I think I pull at a fairly good clip, but I don't chain, and I do wait for people to loot, possibly mana up, and give a quick five second boss summary before boss pulls. Often I get people saying "gogo!" if I stop for more than half a second. It's annoying. |

@OP, I'm with you. I'm a cautious tank as well and it gets under my skin when I have DPS screaming, GO!
Now, if the healer tells me to pull more, it's on! |
^ if its my first time i will take all the time i want. I will walk to mobs if i want to. those dps can either A. if possible make a tank spec B. leave and spend another 30 mins in que C. shut up and let me figure stuff out and save us time, gold and frustration. |
This happened in the only wipe I recall while recently levelling my current toon. One of the dps accidentally pulled another pack while I was taking down my initial Prophet. Ended up chain-feared running round the entire room, wing-buffeted every so often. Was like watching a movie rather than playing a game, quite a spectacle :) |

I will only seriously consider going faster if the healers says pull more.
But to be safe, skipping packs is a good way to wipe. Most PUGs tend to wander and pull extra mobs that i've skipped. I try to clear more than I need to so as to minimize that from happening. |
