Rolling restarts.....

Why is it, that every day, there's at least one of these a day? Are the servers that unstable? Can they not be fixed during the weekly maintenance?

Sometimes a fix needs a server restart to apply. A bit like when you update your own computer - sometimes it doesn't need a reboot, sometimes it does.

well, you see, humans are not perfect, so, sometimes, things that humans do don't happen perfectly, but ironically, some humans still want perfection, so, when things don't happen perfectly for them, sometimes, those humans get mad that things humans did, did not happen perfectly...

kinda like when the servers have to be restarted at a time that just is not perfect for you...

I'd rather have rolling restarts than "Server are down - Estimated time 4-10hrs".

Are you seriously so addicted that you can't handle 15 minutes of downtime?

There might be something that needs changing and not necessarily a fix.

They changed a whole bunch of stuff in mop. Let them smooth things out with restarts (or even downties) lest the bugs develop into a big issue.

MOP didn't conform to Blizzard's mantra "it'll be released when ready", it was released according to Actiblizzard's financial reporting cycle. It wasn't ready, it was extremely bug-ridden, it'll take many more rolling restarts to apply hotfixes .. and 'fix' stuck mobs, unspawning mobs etc. which a reboot kick into action again, for a few hours or so .. and more conventional client-side patches to even approximate it to 'ready'.

Clearly blizzard needs to hire you, I mean you understand their systems better than they do! That or your pulling stuff out your backside trying to look "cute". :p

Kragarn has a well-known hate-!@#$% for Activision (Bobby Kotick in particular) and doesn't care where they whip it out. Did it on the CS forum a few times, but got smacked by the Blues if memory serves.

Hopefully their just fixing things right now but ya if there ganna be doing that for the rest of WoW's lifespan because of cross realm zones then I wouldn't be able to take it for very long, hopefully they'll only be doing it for another week or so.

And it's such an inconvenience. Like, you might not be able to play for up to 15 minutes. You should get a refund!

Rolling restarts are a much better alternative to 8 hour maintenance.

Yeah Blizzard, every one of us on the forum have experience hosting and maintaining servers and we've all had success. Why can't you? We know everything that it takes to maintain a server, especially when new software is implemented and there's an overload of requests. We know all this stuff.
