Nether Tempest Hotfix Change?

I disagree with the recent change to Nether Tempest, specifically "Nether Tempest no longer strikes targets the Mage is not already in combat with." Part of that ability is knowing when to use it and when not to specifically regarding pulling targets and not generating threat and agro from others. If this is the model you guys want might as well move to make LB and FB explosion effect no longer strikes targets the Mage is not already in combat with too. It feels like you guys are taking a good raw spell and putting training wheels on it.

But what it ultimately means in a world PvE scenario you must engage all targets first before casting NT on them to avoid wasting NT ticks on a target while you spent time flagging other targets for combat rather then relying on the fact NT will immediately attack any target within its effective range regardless of status it has with that player. In fact that is one of the things that made NT so good was its ability to start inflicting immediate damage to surrounding targets (unlike Frost Bomb and Living Bomb), however now relationship has changed in light of this new hotfix. My suggestion would be to change it to ignore critters only like flame orb did back in cata but keep its effectiveness to all targets within the 10 yard range regardless of combat status we so aren't forced to do maintenance before we do effective damage.

NT is different from the other two in that it begins dealing damage to nearby targets immediately. With LB or FB, you could place them on the target and still have time to pull it away from neutral mobs. NT doesn't work that way, which made it markedly inferior for questing.

There was also a weird bug whereby when NT hit a critter, and killed it, the secondary projectiles would sometimes start hitting the caster, which can be a pretty serious problem. This may had been the quickest way to resolve that problem, at least temporarily.

It's a nice questing QOL change. Hopefully starfall can get the same treatment at some point.

Hasn't Starfall gotten this fix at least three times in the last few expansions and it never works?

I wish my Barrage got this kind of treatment.
As is now it's a pull everything in sight button.

well some times mages were hitting that button with their nose while rolling their face across the keyboard so it had to be fixed

Considering you obviously hate Mages, the smart thing to do would NOT be shaking your fist at a change that might encourage some to try something other then Frost Bomb.
