I am constently having an issue with people damaging my pet, then my pet attacks them and the guards kill me. The run backs and durability losses are getting out of hand, it seems to happen everytime i am in a neutral town.

your pet should be on passive and you should be using a hotkey to send it to attack/return.

or are you saying its bugged and attacks when on passive?
