New 5.1 information is out, and you Alliance types might not be happy with what you hear.
Sigh, wish there was some kinda spoiler tag system on these forums... |

i was asleep while the libram decided to finally show some movement, so ill just write it all here since replying to everyone would be a chore lol
i find myself looking to other countries for my music as well, but i find that i really really like listening to things in different languages, i listen to some trash bands or artists in america, such as kesha, but i realize that it is exactly that, trash i listen to a lot of nightwish, epica, hemfard, and hel, as well as a canadian pop artist called lights. as for the GW2 thing, i wasnt going to go on a rant about how bad it is, but here we go GW2 pretty much fails in almost everything that makes an mmo an mmo first well go into what GW2 did right exploration as someone who generally doesnt explore in mmos or any game for that matter, i found myself logging on GW2 primarily to explore, i loved seeing the world, and i love jumping for that vista or solving that jumping puzzle crafting crafting things i found were something i also enjoyed doing, which is an activity i usually dread especially wows crafting, it did open my eyes and show me that crafting could be interesting and fun to do open world pve while i myself didnt participate in a lot of events, i really enjoyed their presence, and some of the longer event chains were pretty cool to take part in now for the myriad of things GW2 does poorly pvp its pretty slow, a lot slower than wows pvp, a lot of it seems to hinge on killing people before any human could posibly react, you might ask, "and how is that any different than wows pvp?" i would answer with there are an abundance of ways that your partner or yourself can shut down or heal through that burst, in GW2, you can dodge, but the problem with that is, this burst can happen in the matter of 2 seconds, you wont be dead after it, but you will have used your heal and still be around half health, you are at a significant disadvantage at this point what further exacerbates this issue, is that its hard to tell whats going on while your pvping, most of the classes do a very bad job of telegraphing what exactly is going on so you can learn a common complaint about wow arena is that its really hard to commentate, and its hard to watch for people uninvolved in arena, wow doesnt do a good job of telegraphing everything so that the common viewer knows everything thats going on, mostly because of trinket procs and macros, as well as CDs that dont have dramatic visual queues GW2 goes far worse than this however because it stands to reason that even those familiar with GW2 pvp couldnt tell you whats going on in a pvp match, much less the viewer who hasnt played it Dungeons we heard you like challeging dungeons so we added one shot mechanics, isnt that fun? no, it isnt, in a game that is supposedly skill based, one shot mechanics are pretty unacceptable, unless its clearly indicated whats going to happen and you have time to take action to avoid it also we need to get something else out of the way challenging does not equal hard challenging is something that you try to overcome with skill and practice and is usually a corelary to hard, but it is not a synonym hard just means its difficult, it could be skill based, or it couldnt GW2 dungeons are not challenging, the bosses dont do anything really that spice the encounter up, they just generally do some instant cast one shot mechanic to a random player to which you have to revive, and then continue your tank n spank for 15 minutes for a 5 man boss pacing is pretty bad in my opinion as well, although thats subjective, i dont like spending 5-7 minutes on every trash pull story for the most part, story is kind of second fiddle to everything else that goes on in an mmo when it comes to FTP titles, but the problem here is that this is not a FTP game, it is BTP and right off the bat your personal story is advertised to you so i think it bears some mention it starts off really well, you meet some interesting characters, and you solve a problem that you selected for yourself in the character creation screen such as a lost sister or parents the problem is, at various points various plot points just abruptly end with no resolution and you move on to another point, and by the end, it becomes less about your story, and more about traehearns, whom you basically play as a sidekick to, once he starts to take charge, it becomes about him, and you start to fade into obscurity another problem, its that you start killing undead in your story at about 45, and it never ends, by 80 i was so sick of killing undead i could spit, only to find the lvl 80 zones were more of the same The journey vs the destination so many GW2 enthusiasts will tell, you this game is about the journey, and it is, and that journey is great, however in GW2 the journey is diminished, because the destination does not matter there isnt anything at 80 to really do to keep you logged on, unless you want to grind for your legendary, which a lot of which look really really bad(subjective) exploration and alts are a fine post lvl 80 activity, but if they are the only activities, theres not much reason to continue, some will find more longetivity at 80 than me if the dungeon set they wanted was actually out of a dungeon, unfortunately the one i wanted was off a vendor for gold, so not only did i not need to go into dungeons to get a reward, but i didnt want to because they are pretty unenjoyable if the destination doesnt matter, why would the journey matter quests truth be told, they are on the level of BC, they are for the most part unvaried and unexceptional transmog and you while it isnt controversial to base your progression system on asthetics, it isnt the norm, and you would think that a company that wants to base their game on such a concept would add a lot more armor skins to the game in your average leveling up process you will about three skins for the various articles of clothing, at max there are a fair amount of armor skins that you can work for, but not enough to even contend with the variety of armor skins that vanilla wow had Wpvp? there is none, WvW is basically AV on drugs, which is fine, but theres no actual pvp in the world, i dont necesarily count this against the game though, im not a fan of the dual faction system, it keeps me from playing with the people i want to play with other things of note: character creation is well done WvW- i dont like large scale battlegrounds such as AV, so this was not my cup of tea, and i cant really give an objective opinion on it conclusion: what you have here is a mmo with no endgame, no end goal, nothing matters, the journey is great, but that goes for a lot of console games as well doesnt it? there is a standard that needs to be met with mmos, you need things to do at the end, and right now, there is nothing, and the barren world that i witnessed over the last couple weeks is only a testament to that failure my first time around i had a blast, i would have told you that even though im not a fan of the rating system, i would give it a good 8/10 as for now? i would probably give it a 3/10, it doesnt satisfy the needs that an mmo requires it would have fared better as a console game GW2 feels like it was made to compete with vanilla wow, but its actually competing with mists wow, and right now, GW2 doesnt have a chance in hell of succeeding unless the devs pull their heads out of their butts very soon GW2 does some things different, but it does most things worse |

HEROIC STONE GUARD DOWWWWN god why did that take us so long to figure out lol. What a crappy fight, especially for melee. I was still top dps and ranked #5 on WoL even though I was chained to the mage on crystal duty the whole time lol. Glyph of Double Jeopardy + multitarget Censure = fun!

Guild Wars 2's instanced PvE is one of my main gripes about the game. Their instances are definitely one of their weaker points. Personal story tuning felt awful.
To be fair, more of the skins in GW2 look good. Many of WoW's skins simply don't. nice!, my guilds raid group broke up............ :( http://imgs.sfgate.com/blogs/images/sfgate/pets/2011/09/08/hang_in_there_kitty-thumb-250x332.jpg |

Whelp, I guess I just suck at PvP. Every BG I try, it seems like everyone has 5 !@#$billion stuns. Every fight I get into unless the enemy is hugely outnumbered is just me being stunned til I'm dead.

Are you effing serious? 5.1 is bringing MORE dailies and ANOTHER rep to grind? Shoot me now. -_-
...On a funnier note, just helped ninja Sha of Anger from a Horde group. LOL |

Odd.
Last BG, I think the mana portion of Sword of Light broke. I seriously couldn't use any of my abilities because I was OOM. |

hnnnng, two more bosses down, both with only 2 attempts. wiped on elegon for the rest of the night. best attempt enraged at around 30%. need to pick up the damage. but that room, much like algalon's room makes me lag so very hard.
:( hmm the armoory seems to be broken, some one has stolen my gems and my tabard. |

Armory broke a couple hours ago.
Elidra did you get the contender's pvp set? As much as Blizzard claimed that baseline resil would make it easier for people in pve gear to get into pvp.. it's flat out not true. There's also a lot of stuns and blanket silences now. |

This is too good not to share here:

I got some of it. I don't have enough Spirits to buy the patterns for all of it. Also, silences are somehow even more obnoxious than before. |
|
|
Because warriors can glyph blanket silence on pummel and heroic throw, and hunters have always had silencing shot. So the two most faceroll derp classes right now have the strongest and most derp of CC's to go with it.
Yiayia doesn't approve of blanket silences. |

Soloed Gothik the Harvester, got my Sword of a Thousand Truths; paired it with the Barricade of Eternity from EoE for my tank set. Soloed Ony, too, for giggles, and got a Quel'serrar.
LFR is still LFR - waste of my time and some very precious interwebs. Now I'm tired. |

So the two most faceroll derp classes right now have the strongest and most derp of CC's to go with it.You left out every Mage having it for free, so even the lazybones who never bothered respecing for PvP have it now. That's why you get hit by Deep Freeze, trinket it, get Silenced, frozen/rooted again, and blown up while you can't get out of the root. |

Eh, it's hardly worth swtich to SoR anyway, even were free to do so it'd be a waste most of the time. SoR needs a buff so it's worth using at 3+ targets, and so does HotR. DS being good at 2+ is fine, and people who say it should be buffed are looking in the wrong place - our weakness in AoE is in its slow ramp-up and that half the AoE moves we have shouldn't be used in most AoE situations. Buffing SoR and knocking the GCD for seals right down or removing it (or even just for SoR and SoT) and buffing HotR so that they're what you want at 3+ targets (or possibly even 2+) fixes the nasty way we have so many thresholds in our AoE system, and gives more AoE during the initial ramp-up while we're still pooling Holy Power. The only concern is that sustained AoE might then become too good, requiring a nerf to DS, which would probably cost us being able to use it even on only two targets, which would be a bit sad, IMO. |
