Ultra settings Laptop

90 Dwarf Shaman
I'm looking to get a new laptop (for work so i have my budget) and i'd prefer one that can run WoW on ultra settings (I travel a lot with a small per diem, so that's what i do when i'm out of town).

I'm looking for a sort of Minimum requirements to run wow on ultra settings at 30+ fps in 25 mans, with addons.

Portability is a bit of an issue, but not too high on my priority list.

I'm looking at a laptop right now that has:

2.3 ghz quad core i7 (turbo-boost to 3.1ghz on 4 cores, or 3.3ghz on a single core)
8 gb of 1600 mhz ram
15'6" 1080p display
nvidia 650m at 1024gb of video memory
and then a small boot ssd and a big hard drive at 7200 rpm

I like to play with music and skype going ( what we use for raids).

any feedback would be great!

P.S. do i need 2gb of dedicated vram?

Get 17" if you want ultra 1080p. Its a whole lot bigger and feels better. Especially if you say portability isn't that huge. 17" is a lot heavier but if you aren't taking it to class or something and just taking it on trips 17" should be fine.

Portability is a factor though, just not as important as quality. i'd prefer a 15.6" if i could, but a 17" would be fine. i'm more interested if i could get the specs for ultra settings, 30+ frames, 1080p on a 15" for under 1200

You must ensure at least GTX 670M if you want to have good FPS while running WoW @ ultra settings, at 1080p. GTX 675M recommended.

Take a look at MSI-1762 based laptops. IE)

15" version available here:

I'm not sure what people who know a lot about computers think about Sager laptops, but I recently purchased one for 1164$ and I am in love with it.

17.3" Full HD LED-Backlit Display with Super Glossy Surface (1920 x 1080)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M GPU with 2GB GDDR5 Video Memory
3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM Processor ( 6MB L3 Cache, 2.30GHz)
Stock Standard Thermal Compound
Genuine MS Windows® 7 Home Premium 32/64-Bit Edition ( 64-Bit Preloaded )
12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz - 3 X 4GB
Non-RAID Storage
750GB 7200rpm SATA2 Hard Drive
8X DVD±R/RW/4X +DL Super-Multi Drive & Software
Internal 802.11 B+G+N Wireless LAN + Bluetooth Combo Module
Primary Battery Smart Li-ION Battery Pack
Microsoft Office Starter 2010
Sager 1 Year Limited Parts and Labor Warranty

I run on 1920x1080, everything maxed out and I pull around 60fps in dungeons and standing around in Orgrimmar. I'd recommend Sager to anyone looking to buy a good laptop for less. (Though I'm really no expert on laptops).

Oh, and it doesn't go over 60 degrees Celsius under heavy use, and for a 17" laptop, it is relatively light, and not very bulky.

I was thinking about going with the asus g75vw 17" laptop. But i really like the portability and size of that vizio.... I hate having to choose between form and function.

is a better laptop. for 1500$ you can get better. Don't get me wrong, if you can find it cheaper then go for it! and it should run ultra just fine. But, if you're paying it brand new... Get the one I linked, it's considerably better.
