Man, sometimes I worry about how well I'll be able to tank on my Paladin when she gets enough good gear. It's tanks like the one in my next story that cause concern to shoot up.
I had just finished doing the Dominance/Shieldwall dailies on all my eligible toons, as well as my farms, so I decided to knock out a couple Heroics for (hopefully) gear. My second dungeon is an in-progress Scarlet Halls, right at the steps overlooking Armsmaster Harlan. Buff up and go. The tank (a Paladin) decides he wants to tank Harlan at the top of the steps, right in front of the door. Dps is just dismal, so the fight is going slow. Tank seems to not really notice the adds that continue to pour in, so I have to heal through duos of these guys hitting me, even while standing right on the tank in the hopes that he'll peel. Blades of Light claims a victim every time (he did three times), and the tank gets sucked in on the third and last Blades. As the last one alive, Harlan glances in my general direction and I have a pleasant discussion with the floor. The tanks quips,
"man i hate that stun"
One of the dps inquires if he means the Blades (getting sucked in), and the tank vehemently declares that he was "yards away and still got grabbed". Shrug, run back, buff up, go again. Tank once again pulls Harlan to the top of the steps. Once again the dps is low, and the tank is very oblivious to the adds. We do better on avoiding Blades, but the tank insisting on tanking the boss at the top means we have to jump down to avoid Blades, then run back around to where we were (possibly why they kept getting sucked in). This time, however, the adds are too much and the mince me like a vegetable. Tank bites it, and Harlan handles the dps.
I remind the tank about the ads and we go once again. This time we edge out the kill (only one dps died) and the tank declares, "ugh finally". I shudder at the thought of how many times they had wiped prior to my joining. I glance at Recount (I don't like having it up unless I'm curious about something, idk why) and see that his Consecration is his top damaging ability. Hammer of the Righteous is too far down the list for me to feel comfortable in the fact that he was even aware of its use as an AoE attack. I throw up a kick with "Just no" and it passes. One of the dps claims he wasn't that bad, at least compared to a previous tank (meaning this guy wasn't even the original tank. More shuddering). I point out his lack of threat-gaining, and everyone agrees. We get a new tank and finish it out.
Thing was, that Paladin was 2nd in dps. >.>
