Topic Thing you dont want to hear healing Pugs 10
Did my first heroic today, Jade Temple. Group went fine. Bosses only dropped plate items which no one in the group could use. (Bear tank, Warlock, two Shaman and me.)
Then we get to The Sha of Doubt and one of the Shaman says the magic words.
"We're doing the Achievement"
I ask that we don't, but I'm outvoted. After two wipes I decided to drop out. My mana regain just couldn't keep up with the damage. Even better, after wipe #1, the Shaman asks for the dps to slow down so he can get stacks easier. I was pleased. :/
This was a potential nightmare...
Zone into Ramps with four DKs and me, two guilded including the tank, the other two with 'Jenkins' and 'the Patient' as their titles (I have a thing about those titles, it's an automatic red flag for me, particularly Leeeeeeroy's).
But hey, I'm here, let's do this.
And we lived happily ever after, no wipes, no problems, brushed the place aside with little trouble. They totally undermined my preconceptions of new DKs. So there's an unexpected and nice ending for you all :)
90 Human Priest
Was doing Scarlet Monastery tonight, and I noticed that the tank I got was taking way much more damage than usual, dropping lower than 50% at the start of pulls at times. At some point, we pulled an extra group by accident and we wiped (dps actually lasted more than the actual tank). It was then when the tank said "Maybe I should use cooldowns and damage reduction stuff".
I am still trying to figure out why I didn't leave when he said that.
40 Blood Elf Priest
I couldnt believe this happened...I rolled a monk (like everyone else) and got her to lvl 30. Queue upas heals and get one of the scarlet runs. We are going very slow, but were only lvl 30. I figure the tank is new and needs to figure things out. The dps were getting impatient and pulling for the tank. One of the dps decides its too slow for her and leaves after first boss.
So we get another dps, and were still going slow. The tank explained he had nvr been here before. The dps were still giving the tank crap for his pace, and one decides to kick him for being a "newb". I click no, thats not cool. When one of the dps does "wow" after the kick fails, I then think that it was him that initiated the kick n try to get him kicked. He was the biggest mouth so far. It fails...didnt think it wouldve passed.
The tank kept asking "what?" after the other dps had said "wow" from the fail kick. I explain what happened. The dps that tried to kick the tank kept giving the tank a hard time, and I kept defending the tank. I remarked if he was so impatient he couldve rolled a tank, and instead of complaining he could be helping the new tank. One of the other dps had left at this time. We just got a new dps and I just started running forward when the loading screen popped up. I was sitting back in my home city.
The group had kicked me! For defending the new tank! I even voted to keep the guy, cuz none of us were real great when we first started. Im just beside myself....after trying to work with the tank and defend the guy, Im the one to get kicked. And I got kicked before the last boss too. Whats the point in trying to be nice in runs anymore??
I had a Bird litterally Fly into my window a few months ago. I had had the same reaction, other than the Squealing. I was also in the middle of healing a dungeon
Oh dear, I guess it had to happen sooner or later...
Tank has his lock guildie on follow, so we're down to two DPS.
DK dps wants to experiment with Blood Presence. Thankfully, this doesn't last long.
First boss, I get Frost Tombed
, I ask to be broken out of it, no-one does, tank dies, I keep our two functioning DPS up to down him. Death one.
Deaths two, three and four are on Ingvar...DK and the lock on follow get splatted by Dark Smash, and the Pally stands in the giant rotating axes forever. Tank and I manage to get him down.
At least I didn't come bottom of the DPS meters, I guess...and the tank was good. DK did great numbers too, in spite of their, erm, other difficulties. I need positives after runs like that.
Oh dear, I guess it had to happen sooner or later...
If I get a run where someone is dragging an AFK guildie/alt through a dungeon, I either try to kick the AFK or just drop myself, it's not worth it. Those kind of folks rarely play well, and the runs are generally terrible. It's so selfish.

I'm brand new to healing, but I've already had two bad tanks.
First was a monk in WW spec. All the other tanks I've had were in full heirlooms until this one, so (being a newbie healer) I thought it was normal to have to compete with his falling health bar.
Then, I noticed he didn't have the staggering debuff. The dps noticed too and we all started yelling at him why he wasn't specced right.
Silence. He didn't say a word the whole time. We couldn't get past the first boss. Fed up, I let him die and left the group. The dps were already following suit.
The next one wasn't as bad. It was just an over-confident monk who claimed "I've been tanking since vanilla, I know what I'm doing."
This dungeon had a lot of zig-zagging halls, so LoS was an issue. He raced down those halls, pulling every mob he found and attempted to tank them, while I had to go into cat form to chase after him. I got there just in time for him to die. He said, "Uh, healer taking a nap?"
I managed to keep dps alive so they could kill the mobs. I rezzed the tank saying, "Let's not run so fast I can't keep up, ok?" He said, "So?" One dps said, "What just happened?" I said, "LoS happened." Tank then made his vanilla comment. Another dps said, "Says the guy who would've wiped us if not for the healer."
The rest of the dungeon was pretty pleasant.
I managed to make a mistake today that I'm sure my group didn't want to hear about. I pugged headless horseman as the healer. As the fight began, I noticed I was having a hard time getting the tanks health to budge. I had to resort to my big heals pretty early on. I was soon out of mana, and my bar was not refilling like it should. While meleeing the boss trying to gain mana, I noticed my polearm; I was in my ret set. We managed to down the boss, but I did have to blow all my CDs. I'm sure the tank was really worried!
It ddn't occur to me that mana pool now changes with spec, not gear. I just glanced at my mana pool and assumed I had already changed gear.
One of the only times I've ever been kicked was very similar to this situation, I declined to vote kick the newbie tank because everyone was being a jerk to him, so instead the dps turns around and votes to kick me, and apparently the tank agrees so I get the boot.
Zoned in to mogu'shan palace to find the previous healer left on the first pull. Always a good sign. The tank and all the DPS but one rogue are also from the same guild. Getting worse by the minute.
Get everyone topped off, buffed and proceed down the hallway towards first boss like most groups do.
Apparently this group decides to clear the whole first room, and tank pulls without me there. Ugh, but no big deal, head on over in time to save him. It's at this point I notice all the DPS are melee and they all manage to stand in the whirlwind and take some serious damage. So that pull is a little rough, and I'm at half mana for the next pull.
Tank decides to pull two packs in one and he starts taking some major damage. Again, the DPS is standing in whirlwinds. Fight goes on until I'm oom, then the DPS start falling and finally the tank goes too. I manage to dash my way out and zone back in to res, but not before saying this:
Me: two things.
Me: 1. you don't need to clear the room there.
Me: 2. You're taking an awful lot of damage :/
Warrior DPS: prob just doing for xp
Tank: exp yes im not using cooldowns cuz i want to see if u can handle a trash pull
Tank: i !@#$ing hate hots
.. ok. I main a protadin so I know what cooldowns he should be using every pull. And I coulda sworn tanks were given cooldowns so that they could USE them, but whatever. And who hates hots?? seriously. what.
Head back in to clear the room. (why. it's not even that much xp, and it takes forever. why.) Everyone is still standing in whirlwinds, everyone nearly dies again. I'm healing my little druid butt off, 24k-27k hps, and we just barely make it out.
Final trash pull before boss, and, you guessed it, everyone is standing in whirlwinds and no one is focusing those adds down. Another 20k+ hps pull. I'm manaing up for the first boss when this happens:
Tank: k when they spin just jump out this healer cant handle it
Me: don't be a baddie and get out of things?
... I didn't even know what to say, but I'm hovering over the leave group button because my spidey sense tells me this isn't going to get any better. Tank pulls and I decide to stay, for the sake of the group.
Tank: i've seen druids heal thru it just fine
Nope, done. Not even sorry. Find yourself another glutton for punishment.
Tank: k when they spin just jump out this healer cant handle itMe: don't be a baddie and get out of things?
I remember this excat thing happing back in early cata. "Healz is in purplz, we can ignore mechanicz!"
Or on the flip side, if you just qualified for heroics, you were a baddie for not being able to keep up on their achieve run. Gah!
We are your healers, not your slaves.
Had a run the other night, with two tanks. Yes, two tanks. They were in the same guild, one prot paladin, and one blood dk. I even questioned them about it, "are both of you intending to be in a tanking spec?"
The entire dungeon I had two tanks pulling separate groups, well, the entire portion that I stayed for at least.
I just had a ... FUN H Scholo(and my first heroic to boot).
Got a 4/5 guild group with me as the pug; Shaman, Kitty Druid, Bear Druid and Spriest. First pull is ok; though it seems as if the 3 melee are trying to compete for aggro. One the first boss, the Kitty has aggro more than the Bear for the first half(even though said kitty was only doing about 45k). We manage to kill the boss fairly easily, though my kitty tank was a pain in the !@#$ to heal(hullo Healing Touch spam...).
Next couple of pulls and the second boss go ok; then on Rattlegore the Priest went around grabbing bone armor....ALL of them, despite her not even getting hit by bone spike twice, and me getting hit three times....ouch.
Fourth boss is entertaining; somehow the Shaman died during P2 and the tank was just useless with peels, so the Kitty is getting trucked(as usual) and the Bear has his thumb up his bum.
Then the real insanity happened in the next room. Tank pulled the potions master; managed to hold him, and we killed him easily; then he tried to skip a pack, failed, and promptly got globaled(400k health). I pulled out all the stops, all cooldowns, and popped a BR on the tank(was useless, I still had 2 things beating on me) whilst healing 4 tanks and one %^-*ty bear.
The rest of the instance was just more of the same(kitty tank), and no trinket or staff( ='( ) but after it all, the Kitty finally spoke up and said:
Kitty: "It feels like I've had aggro this whole time"
Me: "Yes, you Have."
Bear: "well, I wanted to see what tanking without using Mangle was like.....I like it."
I'm pretty sure he was trolling, but still....ugh...
Gate of the setting Sun because rogue in my guild want dagger from third boss. so he make me go with him everyday.
certain area has mobs drop smoke cloud like rogue's ability. I count 4 different tanks that make no effort to get out of smoke and have their health go 100% to 0% then wipe out group.

The first day of Hallow's End :
-On the first day, if your group actually wiped (yes... wiped on HH) due to extremely, extremely low DPS (with 2 DPS NEVER switching to the Horseman's Head...) and the fight taking so long you as the healer went OOM, there was no way to re-enter the dungeon. At all. You were forced to use the Spirit Healer. :/
-Zone in to an overeager warrior who is already starting the event before I get zoned in good. I realize just before the fight starts that I'm in Holy gear, but Ret spec. Switch to Ret gear, melee like crazy and use all my Holy Power to keep everyone alive. Very annoying, but at the same time...
-Feral Druid queuing as tank, attempting to catbear the fight, while also randomly popping out or either form to heal himself.
And the big one:
-Paladin Tank charges over to the pumpkin, starts the encounter and right as he starts meleeing screams "CRAP I'M IN HOLY!!"
Instead of at least attempting to tank, he does nothing but start spamming heals on everyone, even when they aren't taking damage. Keep in mind that he thought he was tanking, so he had no Beacon of Light out, thus the spam healing was rather pointless.
The Hunter turns on his wolf's growl, I heal it as much as I can but it was a Ferocity pet, and not intended to tank. Pet dies, Hunter gets aggro, so I say "screw it" to myself, turn on RF and start Holy tanking.
Warrior and SPriest DPS seem to understand what's happened and just lets me tank, but the hunter now brings out a turtle which taunts off me and over towards the hunter who was at max range. I think the Warrior and I had the same mental reaction of "really?" as we both just stood there for a second staring at each other.
The other paladin never once healed either of the Hunter's pets. I know this because I just started spamming Denounce while the turtle had aggro, figuring the other healer would keep the pet up. Nope. It died almost as fast as the wolf. Taunt again, continue tanking.
Hunter re-rezzes turtle, other Holy Paladin is running around, arms flailing, practicing Spirit Fingers like a cheerleader champ, healing everything except whatever happens to have aggro. Still with no BoL out. I let the turtle die again, and continue tanking. Again.
HH dies and drops the AGI ring.
Luckily I have both the healing and melee DPS ring now, and am only going back for the once a day chance at the helm. that thing really should be BoE or BoA or something. Always sucks seeing someone in cloth or mail win it.
And the rings should be able to be sold for at least something like gold. I understand the no DE thing, but no sell price really makes no sense.
edit- to add feral tank bit
Gate of the setting Sun because rogue in my guild want dagger from third boss. so he make me go with him everyday.
Just a note on the smoke bomb, if you stand inside the smokebomb with the tank you can still heal him.
It's still stupid, and they should move out, but when they don't just stick to them like glue.
I have one that turned out well.
We started out in TotJS and the monk tank was chain pulling right off. This annoys me but I thought "My mana is holding out, people aren't standing in the puddles, I can live with it." We get to the next to last pack before the first boss and one of the dps, a feral druid, says "I'm too scrub for this group, sorry" and drops group. Odd, but ok.
We get a new dps and continue on. Dps are pulling for the tank occasionally which is also annoying but again, my mana is barely moving so I deal with it. On the trash before the third boss the tank asks if I can keep up if he pulls all the mobs. "Probably, as long as no one stands in stuff."
You can probably see what happens coming. We lost one dps but surprisingly he owned up to standing in the bad without any sort of prodding.
Best part: The last boss dropped the healing mace and no one was a douche and tried to need on it. Hmm.
Actually, I never checked the /loot window. They may have rolled need and I just won it. Whatever the case, I got my epic mace :).
First time at Shado Pan with a group that had never been there. The group mounted up before the last run of sha trash and started to run through them to the end...They thought you could run past obviously. Well I actually kept them up for longer than I would have thought I could. I think I topped out at 38.5k hps trying. lmao
90 Orc Shaman
Scarlet Halls - I think I'm going to be scarred by that loading screen for a while.
Guilded tank + 3 dps, everything actually goes pretty smoothly for a while. The mage is putting out high dps, the spriest is ... okay, their rogue doesn't join us until the first boss and is also low dps, but at least nobody is holding us back. Then comes Harlan.
Now, I don't know if the tank hadn't been here before, wasn't comfortable with picking up adds, or what, but I never had less than two mobs on me at any point. First whirlwind, everyone's fine. Second whirlwind, the rogue gets caught, but it's late into the WW so I can actually keep him up. Third WW, rogue and spriest get caught early. FOURTH WW, and say goodbye to the mage. I'm on fumes, all cooldowns were used, up to six friends bashing my skull in, but the boss dies right after.
Knowing that everyone will start moving again once they're alive, I drink before trying to rez. The spriest says "Nice healing", which I'm not sure if srs, so I just /bow to acknowledge him. They rez (spriest misses the mass rez for some reason), next trash pack, then the tank drops group. Mind you, they were all guildies, so they should have noticed this, but the dps just press on to the next pack. I see the pull begin, and I drop immediately. If you pull when your GUILDED tank has dropped, I have no sympathy for your repair bill.
