Usually, yes.

It's a toss-up depending on the games played.

More popular, mainstream games like Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Crysis 2, and World of WarCraft still gives HD 6870 / GTX 560 a win (according to Tom's).

Interestingly, besides nVidia favored games like Batman, HD 6870 outperforms GTX 650 Ti AND GTX 560 in most benchmarks.

So if anything would be changed, HD 6870 would have the sole win.

Would this be a decent build or would you recommend changing a few things?

16GB of RAM is overkill. 8GB is enough.

Ensure that Biostar board has support for Vishera CPU.

You can probably find cheaper HD 7850s than that.

Ok, I'll check and link what I find and see what you think.

Ok, I changed a few things. This any better or no?

Missing RAM in that build, but you know what to get

In that build the motherboard has a special that comes with 2 4g ram sticks. But other than that it looks like an ok build? and will it be ok for max wow settings?

Oh, yeah. It'll be fine for what you are looking for.

Note you need a copy of OS if you do not have one. You can't transfer off of old PC (unless if it's a full OEM copy)

What would you prefer for that?

Something like that?

That will do.

SSD question, i remember seeing a video (i think it was the Newegg one but i forgot now) about the Samsung 840 series and how the price/GB was going down and the reads were going up slightly but writes were about half of 830 series but now i look on the product page (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147193&Tpk=samsung%20840%20pro) and now it is completely different. What happened? did some miraculous innovation happen overnight?

You are looking at Samsung 840 -Pro-. Samsung released two different products for 840 range: Pro and standard 840.

There's a lopsided performance difference between plain 840 and Pro.

ohhh, well that makes sense but he question i still don't get is if the new 840s have that triple layer thing, wouldn't the 840 pro have it too or is it just a re-branded 830??

What triple layer thing?

The difference between the two is the firmware and memory chip used. The 840 plain used TLC (which has less write endurance than typical SSDs using MLC).

gah i forget where i saw it oh well. i checked newegg and it wasn't one of their videos aybe i'm just making it up in my head

If you can afford it, 840 Pro is -the- king of performance SSDs right now. 840 is good too, but you can probably find deals on 830. Few days ago, you could buy a 256GB Samsung 830 for $170. That's a killer deal, which is likely to come back again soon.

I've noticed the GTX 650ti beats the GTX 560 in nearly every game @ 1920x1080/1200, especially in min FPS. Both tom's hardware and anandtech's results confirm that. The GTX 650ti also consumes very little power as well in comparison. I feel from 130-150 that should be the recommendation over the gtx 560/HD 6870

Yea the 650Ti or 660Ti should be the recommend video card. I would have went with one of those two if my wife didnt purchase a 560ti as a gift for me 4 months ago.. But hey, they all run guud in SLI.. :-D

Agree as well. I have the 256GB 830 series and its sweet. I am sure the 840 will be no disapointment. One thing to add to the Samsung drives, they may not always be the "fastest" out. But they have been the most stable and most reliable drives on the market. SSDs may not improve your game speeds, but they will let you reboot faster if your game crashes :-)
