WoW freezes computer when main toon logs in

100 Goblin Priest
15115
I've encountered an annoying problem the last few days. I'm using a mid-2010 Macbook Pro 13" and 10.8.2. When I try to log in to the game with this toon (Desrev, Mal'ganis) the game freezes and locks up my computer. I am unable to force quit and have to manually turn off the computer and restart. The game locks up after about 5 seconds with the music continuing in the background. After about a minute, the music dies. However, I am able to log in to my other characters (horde and alliance) on the same server without any problems. I have reset user options, fully deleted WTF, CACHE, and INTERFACE (addons) all of which didn't help my problem. Here is my error info from when addons were installed. After I deleted the addons, the Error file is blank. Please help.

Not sure if the OP solved their issue but their armory has them logging into the toon in the last day.

All those still having issues please post their hardware details as well as the latest error report in full from :

Mac HD -> Applications -> World of Warcraft -> Errors

I'm unfortunately not seeing enough data here to help those still having issues.

Hello,

I'm not quite sure what the exactly the problem is, but if you are able to login with a different character, pleaes open a ticket and tell the GM to move your character to your heartstone place , and then try again to login.

I see that this was a problem last year and it is a problem again as of today February 26, 2013 as my toon, OLDFEZZIWIG is stuck in Kun Lai Summit at the Kota Camp. I log on and everything freezes up and I have to manually restart my Mac. I've been on with my other toons, which are not in KLS, and there's no problem.

What gives?

Have you tried to reset your ui and repair your game to see if it helps?

I am having the same problem as well i have reinstalled wow multiple times. Currently my pally causes my computer to freeze on serpents spine. I have reset literally everything trying to solve and prevent this problem i even stop using add ons and deleted them. I don't know what to do anymore. When i went into my error text the game doesn't recognize it as one because my whole computer freezes. I have a mac osx running lion mid 2010.

You said you reinstalled WoW multiple times, but are you still using a backed up WTF folder from a previous install? If so, you are running into a character-specific issue most likely. The simplest way to deal with this is to delete the WTF folder and re-run WoW.

You can also try the following to weed out potential corruption during installation:

Delete the following files/folders:

/Users/Shared/Battle.net/Agent/Agent.db
/Users/Shared/Blizzard/Battle.net
/Users/Shared/Blizzard/Battle.net.temp (if present)
/World of Warcraft/WoW.mfil
/World of Warcraft/Data/Cache

Once done deleting those files, make sure all permissions are set properly in World of Warcraft's main folder by doing the following:

1) Get Info (in the Finder) on the World of Warcraft folder.

2) Click the padlock icon and enter your password to authenticate yourself.

3) For the Everyone group, set it to Read and Write.

4) Click the cogwheel icon and select Apply to enclosed items. Select OK to confirm your action.

5) Close the Get Info Window.

6) Repeat steps #1-5 on the /Users/Shared/Battle.net folder.

Now run the WoW Launcher. Let WoW rebuild its cache. It can take between 15-60 minutes depending on the computer and drive being used. Do not click Play until the Launcher window shows the message "Game is up to date", indicating that WoW has fully patched and/or rebuilt its cache.

Should the above steps fail, please provide detailed system information so we can assist you further.

Obtaining and Posting System Information

1) Click on the Apple Menu while holding down the Option key and select System Profiler (10.6.8) / System Information (10.7 and later).

2) Copy the information from the following sections and paste them into your post. Please copy in the following order: Hardware Overview, Graphics, and Software. Do not include any serial numbers, hardware UUIDs, or account/login names or information in your post.
