Greetings fellow Kilroggians! I didn't get much feedback from the Xmog & Rep speed run last week, other than some more challenging community styled runs. I did note that there are several players that are either in guilds that do little or no raiding at all, so I feel that they lack the experience to do anything too hardcore, as this it is more about community and casual raiding that brings this Alliance team together on Kilrogg. So I have been trying to come up with something new and interesting that most would enjoy and appeal to all players and skill levels.
This week I thought I would keep it fairly simple again and do just a mount run since on the release of MoP, Blizzard lowered the drop rates for several of the raid mounts that are dropped, most of which I think was for heroic Ragnaros, Deathwing, and Ulduar. Once some Kilroggians have gained a little experience in raiding I am going to bump it up a notch with the plan of doing ICC normal next week 10 to 25man depending on how much interest there is. So for now I will not attempt to take inexperienced players in anything extreme, but do my best to keep it as challenging as possible. Some heroics will be done but I want to give those inexperienced players an opportunity to see the normal raid before attempting something that would probably fail and end in frustration for all of those in the raid. I do however want to try to get into Firelands on normal for chance at the Flametalon of Alysrazor mount. So here is what I am shooting for:
* Tempest Keep for Ashes of Al'ar (min level 70; 2.17% drop chance)
* Karazhan for Fiery Warhorse (min level 70; 1.11% drop chance)
* Onyxia's Lair for Onyxian Drake (min level 80; 0.45% drop chance)
* Vault of Archavon for Grand Black War Mammoth (min level 80; 1 to 1.4% drop chance)
* The Eye of Eternity for Azure Drake (min level 80; 4% drop chance)
* The Obsidian Sanctum for Twilight Drake (min level 80; 33.8% drop chance)
* Throne of the Four Winds for the Drake of the South Wind (min level 85; 1% 10man & 3% 25man drop rates)
* Firelands for Flametalon of Alysrazor (min level 85; 3% drop chance)
The minimum level you see is the level your toon needs to be to enter the raid on the drop rates these are from info gathered from Wowhead.com so there could be greater variance in them.
I post this on the forum as opposed to combing trade looking for players so that it gives everybody time to do a little planning and hopefully take some weakness out of your traditional PUG raid with juvenile and inconsiderate players. As always it is expected that you treat your fellow Kilroggians with respect. If you cannot behave accordingly do not attend. If problems occur they will be handled quickly by removing that person from the raid and they will not be invited back to any repeating events such as this; with that said the event will begin:
Sunday, November 18th @ 10am server time or 10am Pacific Standard time; expected total runtime from about 10am to 1pm server time.
Post here or shoot me an in game mail/whisper if you have any comments to add or you are interested in joining this event.
So far I have about 8 people for this event... so it is filling up quick! I will keep others on reserve in the event of a no show or something else happens. On thing that we could really use is another strong healer. If you are interested please post here or send me an in game whisper/mail.
I also believe we are going to attempt most of this on heroic mode. If after a couple of pulls it is not working out we'll switch back to normal and burn that boss just to keep it fun and get through it for the chance at the mounts. I do not want to turn this into something that feels like a progression grind. The primary points of this is to bring players from Kilrogg together for some fun and the possibilities of winning a rare mount drop.
Just looking at your list, figured id give you a heads up on a few things.
The list as a whole is a pretty quick thing. With 8 people or so you will be able to destroy all of these bosses really fast. At this point some of it you can solo pretty easy but a few are still nice to have extra people.
OS10 or 25 each drop different mounts and if you kill them with 3 drakes up( which is really simple now) the drop rate is 100% on either difficulty for the mounts.
The Eye of Eternity is a good run because its easy and has a chance to drop 2 mounts on either difficultly. Azure and Blue Drakes
VoA is a difficult run to plan but nice if you are able to zone in. You need to win WG to be able to zone into VoA but once inside there are 4-5 bosses that you can kill that all have chance to drop the mount. So its really nice if Ally does have WG
Firelands and TotFW are easy now but you still need to do the encounters with some idea of how the fights work. Esp if you plan to do them on Heroic. They are by no means difficult but compared to all the other fights listed they require the most work.
GL in all your runs, its nice to see people doing groups for older content. Hope you have a lot of success in getting the mounts to drop.

WOW!! Thanks for the input Devilmage! I gotta say it was a delightful surprise to get some input from a member of the top guild on the server. I have never talked with any one from Modest, but I have watched your guild's progression closely and it is impressive to get this kind of feedback! Thank you!!
Yes, I am aware of the challenges with each of these runs, but I am not exactly a pro either. I am trying to give others on the realm an opportunity to get some raid exposure who have had little or no experience at it. It also gives me an opportunity to work on my own raid leading skills as well. Thanks again and maybe one of you from Modest would be interested in joining us. I am planning on doing something like this each Sunday and its always nice to get good tips from the pros!
Well I want to thank everyone that came out to do the mount run! As always I seek your feedback on what you thought of the run so that I can improve organizing them and making them enjoyable for everyone.
I often forget how high powered 90's can be in some of these things, because for some including the Firelands we burned the boss so rapidly there was not time for certain mechanics to develop enough for the achievements. I want to especially thank Grim for assisting me with explaining bosses to those that didn't understand and being able to single tank the boss in Firelands. Great job my friend! I would love to bring you back on more runs.
I have tried to keep these runs consolidated to strictly players of the US-Kilrogg server, but that doesn't appear to be possible; real life comes up and moves on and sometimes people are not able to make it or need to leave. So, I am pulling in many people from other realms to join in the fun and keep several in reserve who may just want to get a single boss or achievement. You never know what runs I maybe attempting and they are often not limited to just Sundays. This past week, not including this event I have been in on 11 different raids, from Molten Core to Mogu'shan Vaults and everything in between from BC to LK expansions. As you can imagine keeping track of everyone that I come into contact with and logging each event can be very challenging. So if I am not your Real ID, you may want to consider getting with me to exchange info.
We did have a few problems with some that wanted to make off the cuff gay references. I realize that in some circles that is acceptable, but for this it really isn't. I am guilt of referring to something as being "gay", such as "Dude! That is so gay!" I know and many others know, that this isn't necessarily an insult depending on the context it is used. In this case it is intended to mean that something is stupid. Still I think that it is important to refrain from any use of the term gay as it is offensive to some and these events are intended for people to have fun, learn more about raiding (self included), pickup some achievements, and get some xmog loot. Just simply respect others when you are communicating over vent and the text chat. I'll be happy to discuss more about "common respect" with others offline if you would like to pst me.
Please, please post your feedback so that we can make these events more enjoyable for everyone. Look for a heroic run on ICC, 10 to 25 man next week; where you can pick up both a mount and the title "Bane of the Fallen King" for 10man or "the Light of Dawn" for 25man for completing this run. Thanks once again for those that came out!
