Has your monk become your new main?
Me? I like the monk class. So much so that I went 1-90 with it practically non-stop, and my monk is now my main. Why is that you ask? Well let me tell you.
- I loved playing a Paladin, and monks can do everything that Paladins can, and in their own, distinct style. They are Paladins in leather.
I love some of the poses she strikes while casting, being en garde, and healing.
Taking on a monster and punching their lights out using nothing but your fists and feet? Cool!
Mistweaver spec made me like healing all over again.
There are other reasons, too numerous to mention in a single post, but suffice to say, monks are here to stay, like them or not.
The perception about monks, I discovered, varies from group to group. I have had tanks leave groups I have just joined, mistrustful of monks as healers, oft times saying so. I have had responses from group members that have ranged from wary to enthusiastic. Players from this realm whom I have grouped with in the past on other toons find themselves somewhat insecure in the presence of my Monk, unless they know its me.
I guess what I am saying is, and I am sure the Death Knights of Wrath of the Lich King can remember a time like this as well, it is hard being the new kid on the block.
The times they are a-changing of course, level 90 monks are getting thicker on the ground now, and we don't have to prove ourselves as often. But I will still get the occasional:
Idiot Player: Your DPS is crap.
Me: That's because I'm a healer.
Idiot Player: No your not, I saw you with the melee DPS doing that spinny thing.
Me: That's the type of healing the situation called for, its Fistweaver healing.
Idiot Player: Your DPS is CRAP LEARN 2 PLAY NOOBGROMIT.
*YOU HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE GROUP*
So what has your experience been with/as a monk? Are you loving it? Or should they have stayed in Diablo 3?
Tell us your story.
