HoF bugged loot, GM response.

(Locked)

So I know Blizz said they were working on a solution, but I just got this message in answer to my ticket.

[...]
I looked into your issue and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. I have sent you a gold reward for this LFR that will be waiting for you in your mailbox. Again truely sorry regarding this issue. This issue has been hotfixed and you will no longer have any more issues regarding lockout.

The issue that arises, however, is I (supposedly) won gear from my encounter. For me personally this is a non-issue and I have closed the ticket. The reason it is a non-issue is because the gear I would have gotten is not an upgrade. While I might have made a little more cash if I could have sold the gear, it isn't worth the effort.

What I DO take issue with is not everyone is in the same boat as myself. It means a lot more to other people who got screwed over and while I have been blessed by the RNG gods in LFR (6 freakin helms!), it is just wrong to let it slide for those others who have not had my luck.

If this was just a case of showing gear for everyone, I understand the problem. However it was a bug that showed gear that SHOULD have been won (as I understand it anyway). What to do? I don't have a clue. I would suggest giving the gear shown but from the slow response I can see that is probably not going to happen for a reason I hope is explained (though I imagine it has to do with logs). If that is not possible a few elder charms would be nice along with the gold reward. However, I just can't, in good conscience, set back and say nothing just because it wasn't a big deal to me.

PUGPUGPUGPUGPUGPUGPUG!!!!

Rhinhart, this was posted here by Vrak earlier in a thread about this, hopefully it will shed some light:

Unfortunately, Dargonis, there simply is no information available to verify what you may have received.

We entirely understand the frustration that this issue caused and our Developers worked to address cause of the issue as quickly as possible. I'm sorry to say that they were not able to reset those encounters though for another shot at loot.

While In-Game Support tries to help when we can, unfortunately, this is not one of those issues that we are currently able to assist with. I'm sorry.

I didnt even get gold for my bugged loot.

I would be ok with a single Elder Charm so I could get another chance at loot off that boss, that would be Fair in my eyes.

I had this problem, and while I'm pretty sure I only missed out on getting a gold bag, I didn't even get that sent to me in the mail. The ticket response just said that the problem had been hotfixed and LFR was fine now. It's just 28g, but it's irksome to have it glossed over, and I'm sure there are folks out there who got hosed on gear.
Thanks Scuba. I did do a search, but only in the general forums before I made the post. I assumed there was no way for them to verify the loot that dropped (but one can always hope).

The given gold reward is ok, but if possible an extra elder charm seems like the best choice of an item to give as it gives a second shot at loot... but it doesn't (seem to) help those with really crappy luck.

I just don't want all those folks who have been crapped on by RNG to get screwed (albeit unintentionally) again.

I received the same message, but I had included a screenshot in my ticket, I have horrible luck with RNG and rarely receive any loot. The downside is that this is one time I would have received some. Is there to be any further exploration into this issue so that we are able to receive the loot, or at least get our lock rolled back so that we can complete the LFR properly? Thanks

Here's the response I got:

"Thank you for reporting this issue to us. Our developers have recently pushed a hotfix for this issue and it should now be resolved. You should now be able to run Looking for Raid again this week and be eligible for loot."

So, after reading it I went back to kill Amber Shaper (the boss that it happend on) and the exact same thing happend. "You are not eligible"

..so, what do I do now?
I had the same problem, got the bag of gold. However I resent my ticket and got a response from a second GM saying.

" You are correct. You shouldn't be punished due to a bug like this. In fact, the developers are working on a way to fix and compensate specific players like you that were affected by this bug. So just be a bit patient and they should have a solution released soon. "

So I am hoping they are just trying to clear out the ticket queue while they get a patch or hotfix in place for the loot itself.
Skilledham - A response from... umm... some blue (sorry) on these forums had this to say.

Indeed. I looked into that and it seems there was a misunderstanding. The response itself should be corrected now, but I'm afraid anyone who received a response already would have been told the same thing.

Any new replies should be told that they'll have another chance at loot next week.

I am very sorry for any confusion that was caused by this.

Here's what I got in response to being saved incorrectly

Ticket US32857485

Greetings!

Thank you for reporting this issue to us. Our developers have recently pushed a hotfix for this issue and it should now be resolved. You should now be able to run Looking for Raid again this week and be eligible for loot.

We do appreciate the information, as all reports we receive allow us to quickly identify and issue and fix it as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately I'm not unsaved I actually believed the GM and spent my time to get into a group to do the 2nd boss which I had missed. I downed it and got the int/spirit dagger upgrade staring me in the face stating I couldn't loot it.

I don't want to be too angry with GMs because there's little they can do, but the higher ups should know this isn't a valid response. I also got a main stating something out was found for me out of the twisting nether but the mail was empty so go figure.

Please give us the loot that it said we would've earned. If you can't tell what that is then just reset the locks period. If you can tell who needs what locks reset properly then do it, if you can't identify it properly then just reset all the hof locks that could've been broken for everyone. I'm being punished because of a bug on your side. I can accept that software bugs happen and will effect end users (I've been known on occasion to have caused them) and I'm not even mad about that. What does irritate me is the response of erring on the side of giving us less than what we earned rather than more, that's unacceptable. When you inconvenience users. You should look to make things right with your users and that in this case takes you giving us something equal to or better than what would've happened without the bug. I know my non broken situation awards me the spirit dagger from 2nd boss getting nothing doesn't make me happy obviously.

I really didn't expect a resolution yesterday since the severity of the bug isn't a work all night kinda deal, but it's surprising to me a decision and an announcement wasn't made today about this even if it'd take a day or so to implement.

Unfortunately, there was some misunderstanding about what the hotfix would be able to accomplish and the reply that was originally sent out was based on that information. The response that is going out has since been corrected but there are a number of folks who already received the original response.

I apologize for the confusion. I'm sorry to say that this encounter could not be reset nor is our In-game Support able award loot that you may have received otherwise. The overall issue has been resolved but you will not be eligible for loot until resets next week.

Any additional options will likely come from Development. As stated in the thread in the General Discussion forum, they will provide an update as soon as possible.

The hotfix prevents more people from being saved incorrectly when a boss resets. For players already saved, we're still exploring what we can do and will provide an update as soon as possible.

The reply I got basically said "We could not find anything, please submit a bug report". I am highly confused as the nature of my ticket was exactly the OP's.

So if this bug affected our characters, we are simply out of luck for the week after being told we wouldn't be?

That fits the very definition of "blows", I believe.

The sad part is not only did I lose out on this I wasted time wiping with a group to try again based on the ticket response to get slapped down again when I got a kill.

I'm sympathetic Vrakthris I really am I don't believe for a moment you're lying when you state the GMs are unable to change the lfr locks themselves. The support tools you have access to are no doubt limited to certain functionality which has been developed and you have no power outside it. This means Blizzard needs to look into this at a different level and some of your developers and/or database specialists need to remove the locks directly. The data absolutely exists and the people with the ability to modify it really need to.
