Lon'li Guju

For those who don't know this is one of those "Easter Eggs" they add in to WoW but this one just makes me all warm inside.

Lon'li Guju is a Flying Ghostly turtle in Kun-Lai Summit around Zouchin Strand. Whenever you see him you can /hug /love /wave and some others I'm sure and he will immediately stop and come flying towards you and follow you around for awhile.

I just read about him and figured I would come post and have others maybe post their pictures of Lon'li Guju following you around.

He's based off of Lonesome George a Pinta Island tortoise, whose species has become functionally extinct.

I know some of you might not care or will make derogatory comments but I love this guy and I wanted to share him once more with the Community Forums, so post your pics if you have any or your love.

Lonesome George is dead so his species is extinct.

Little things like this are awesome, Haely. Great find! Oddly enough, I had watched a documentary about Lonesome George months before his death. It broke my heart to see the news he had died. =(

Extremely sad to see an animal of any kind become extinct.

Really happy you guys implemented him though.

YOU CRUEL PERSON, why would you stab through his mouth with your broomstick!?
No wonder his species died out.

1.) Head to the Townlong Steppes
2.) Find the area called the The Widening Deep
3.) Look out for a Pandaren NPC with a peculiar name moving about.

Hint: she's Rolling the the Deep.

Easter eggs are fun.

I found Lon'li Guju when I was having a particularly bad day. I started crying when he started following me after I /hug-ed him. He just looks so damn happy to have some company.

Thank God I didn't see the emote he does before he goes to respawn ;_;

I also immediately thought of Mario Kart 64 when I saw this as well. Just due to the fact that there's the rare spawn nearby him that drops a turtle shell you can throw at people as well as the fact that he's a blue turtle with wings, just like the blue shell in the game. Great to know there's another connection with him!

In the ocean on the border of Townlong and Dread Wastes is a giant clam named Gok'lokk with about 12-million health. Killing him (he spawns adds, but does no damage himself) will give you a short quest to take to the nearby sprites, who give you the clam shell as a vanity item, which, on use, you stand in and do the /flirt emote.

George is my hero actually, I am thrilled to hear he has been given homage in WoW.

They brought several females from neighbouring islands to him in the hope he'd breed but he wasn't having a bar of it (nyuk nyuk)*.

He is not a tragic figure - he looked stoically and heroically into his solitary future! In the end he chose extinction rather than compromise with an unlike tortoise.

*Actually, he did breed several times over the years with some closely related subspecies but the eggs weren't viable.

Me and my friend were camping the rare with the hardened shell, and I flew off to help someone and found this guy, Wasn't sure what he was so I looked him up, immediately I was giddy, my friend was freaking out askin' what was up, then I /love and brought him with me and there the three of us stood waiting on the rare. :)
