Hey, Wyrmrest.

I know, it's not a personal blog, or it's not anything like Facebook. But today my fiance of a year has left me for another man, and my world is falling apart. Just a few minutes ago, I had the urge to do something unspeakable that I would've never even had the chance to regret.

If you or anyone you know is going through something right now, comfort them, or have them call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.

Thank you.

There is no shame in reaching out for help.

I would tell you that sometimes things like these happen for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, people make mistakes. Sometimes, people fall out of love. Sometimes, things just don't work out. I don't know which one of those (if any) happened to you.

And I know that anything I say won't make it stop hurting.

Give yourself some time to grieve. It's okay to be hurt and it's okay to feel bad for awhile. When you're ready, reach out to someone who you trust. But do reach out. The first step of healing is get it all out.

I'm no counselor or expert when it comes to emotions and relationships, but here, have a hug.

Oh hun, that sucks. In times like these sometimes you just gotta feel the pain, and it hurts, but I can say that it will fade and things will get better, and that I for one am very glad you are still here.

As someone who struggles with depression, I know how hard it can be to silence those inner voices that tell you how horrible things are right now, and how little you mean. They are wrong, we KNOW they are wrong, but they are persistent and go deep. (And they ARE wrong, and evil, and it's best to cling to that.)

I know it's not much, but /hugs and /cookies.

Oh, and this has helped cheer me up in the past, so I strongly suggest to read through them.

Feel better and try to see the bright side of it, you're better off having it happen now than after marriage and behind your back. You will find someone who deserves you, this is a strain on the heart but don't fall into that black hole - feel good dude.

Get a counselor.

That's not "shut up, tell someone who cares, get a counselor" of course, but instead "you will probably do a lot better with professional help than with us." We can throw funtime helpful phrases at you, and we can be friends and help a little, but a professional will help a lot more.

This thread wasn't intended for my own benefit, but for the sake of others who may be going through a similar situation or a period of crisis in their lives.

Maybe, but you were the OP and thus the first target. Now you *have* to accept the well-wishes!

Not really good at this sorta talk, but I know how you feel and I've come close to that as well. When I feel down I like to make myself laugh or look at cute stuff so I'll just link a few things.
Oh, and of course! /much hugs

I've been told several times I'm white enough to do that.

Thank you.

You need to get a bunch of buddies together, a bottle of whiskey and just cry it out.

^And this. Even if you were doing this for others, you went through a rough patch and you need a Team Me. So, for the internet and here on Wyrmrest, we will be your Team Me!

This.

I went through the same thing a few years ago and wanted to put my head through a brick wall when it happened.

While professional help would be the greatest asset, especially if you're considering bodily harm, time tends to heal all wounds. I know it's a cliche saying, but it really is the truth.

Is it bad that I snickered because that SAME JOKE went through my mind when typing it?

I'm sorry, but no no no no to the whiskey or any alcohol. It should never be used in this way. Ignoring the potential for repeated abuse, it causes other problems. Memory loss which ruins the whole point of letting it out with your friend's support, the hangover, and the fact that it's a depressant. Even if it's only one drink it's still not good.

A soothing drink would be better to help the process. Cold water, juice, milk, favorite tea, or perhaps a tea designed to calm. Nothing with too much sugar or caffeine of course.
