Anyone else miss old DeathKnights?

WotLK launch and topping the damage meters in Naxx was great fun in a DW hybrid spec mix of Frost and Unholy. You have high spell damage plus a perm pet and access to gargoyle which was a 21st point talent at the time. Topping the meters even with the guild giving all tier drops to the bum rogue that never could pass me in damage.

If they could just give back the old unholy blight surrounding me when I used death coil. And the corpse explosion when I could blow up anyone including my ghoul, then I would be a happy sadistic Death Knight :D

I actually agree with this, I prefer the old rune system. It was more entertaining for me.

* The original desecration was my favorite. That and old DND.

Are you talking about DPSing as blood in ICC? Because that's terrible. Well, maybe not terrible, but it was definitely behind frost and unholy.

In ICC? Blood was highly gear dependent in ICC based on Armor Penetration from what I recall, and that Blood could surpass Unholy/Frost in selective scenarios, but only when you had an excess amount of it(ArP).

You're right. To me, ICC and the start of Cata kind of blend into each other. In fact, I do believe I was running Blood in ICC till I got bored of it and went UH.

What I miss from wrath:

2 rune scourge strike

casino strike!

Original desecration with the grasping arms

Right after blood dps got death strike as their FU rune spender and basically wouldnt drop below 90% hp ever

Dancing rune weapon casting army

Turning into a ghoul when i died, bugs and all

No reaping haste unholy: Want to talk about spammy??!

Turning a dead friend into a ghoul and having them say in vent "wat do?"

Wandering plague!!!

What I miss from cata:

Pre 4.0.6 where unholy was amazing

Original Dark Succor: Death strike was finally worth using before pvpers, as they tend to do, ruin everything.

Sometimes I wonder why I abandoned my paladin for a dk. Then I remember WotLK launch DKs.

I remember tanking Naxx as unholy, and with a glyph your pet got most of your stamina, plus your stamina buffs, plus you could buff him individually. I actually used my ghoul to offtank stuff from time to time. I think I actually had him tank one of the four horsemen once.

Also, it was amusing to get a boss kill, and the corpse explosion the boss corpse. hehe

Didn't glyph of death and decay do something really stupidly OP, like fear every every 2 seconds or something?

I miss scourge strike doing pure shadow damage.

Monks seem pretty rare still. Part of it is because they start at level 1, but I wonder if part of it is because they weren't made so OP like we were.

If you stacked a heap of Armor Penetration like Mighella said, blood was up there, it would not pass frost, but i can tell you it was pretty damn close.

caused targets in it to be feared in horror for 2 seconds. had no dr as i recall and continued to happen as long as the target stood in it. was completely broken in both pvp and pve. i wiped quite a few major city raids with that glyph.

blood required a ton of armor pen + shadowmourne before it came close to the other specs without shadowmourne

Heh. DKs were so OP at WotLK launch, even the stuff I can hardly remember was stupidly OP. Every time I think back on this class in Nov/Dec 2008, basically everything about it was OP. So much fun, but so OP.

I think Blizzard just got too enthusiastic about making DKs cool and exciting, and neglected the balance in favor of the rule of cool.
