Have you tried resto kitty? If fast is fun then probably not but druids have a talent that make our int into agi when in cat form and you can use cat form or bear form abilities while in resto gear and spec. It's not as fast just speccing kitty or really boomkining but it is kind of fun and as a healer you can go back caster and heal yourself back up while pooling energy.

Serenitee, have you tried Feral or Guardian as an off-spec? Both should be fairly fast, and you may enjoy them more. :3

Go feral er cat and not feral bear (meh guardian). The only benefit of being bear for dailies is you can pull 5+ mobs and survive. Its still slow though. In most dailies, my dk in dps spec killing 1-2 at a timewill be faster. I've debated switching to cat spec till I finish most dailies/rep that I care about.

I do my dailies as elemental. I hate the spec with a passion, but it gets the job done. I can blow things up pretty quickly, but its so boring.

I'd love to go Enhancement, but that's not likely to happen any time soon. I'm the healer that's been deemed the "dps b!@#," since I have the gear already, minus trinkets I'll never get. My guild decided to give the Elemental Shaman mail agi gear for their offspecs. Never mind the fact that they haven't used it once and I'm forced to go Ele every freaking day, both in and out of raid. "They'll use it more." Yeah, okay.

No, I'm not bitter in the slightest. Stop looking at me like that.

I hated moonkin too, but for some reason lately, I'm starting to like it. Not sure if I just feel I'm getting better at it or not, but I don't hate it as much anymore.

More great comments. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who's not in love with Balance, and you've confirmed my suspicions about Elemental.

I think I'll either try to make Kitty work (either Resto or Feral), or invest some time in my Priest. I agree, Shadow is just fun. Plus, disc is generally doing better than Resto druid right now anyway. :'(

The thing with boomkin is that you need a decent amount of crit to function well, and crit is generally the least wanted stat for healing gear. You could go for haste, which used to be the boomkin's best stat, but it doesn't feel powerful enough.

In the end, I bit the bullet and maintain two separate gearsets for my dailies and my healing.

I hate ret!!!! However, the game pretty much requires me to spend well over half my time as ret. Scenarios - healers not really welcome. Challenge modes - dedicated healer not really welcome. Brawler's guild - healers not welcome. Dailies - sure you can stay holy but enjoy spending your entire playtime for the day doing nothing but dailies.

Not asking that dailies be made more healer friendly but that healers be made a little more daily friendly. Also, that we have the ability to toggle an option that will let us accumulate off spec gear in LFR once we don't need healing gear. Over 30 minutes in queue was a culture shock when you are accustomed to instant queues.

I leveled 85-90 as Discipline spec, because I hate the feel of Shadow spec that much now. Discipline spec (properly glyphed, reforged, etc.) is the only primary healing spec game-wide across all the classes, which feels remotely synergistic and decently designed for PvE play outside of the group healing role (Mistweaver Monks being a distant second, in my opinion).

It is pretty sad that Blizzard has completely failed at fully developing the primary healing specs in this game, to be decently-functional, synergistic and fun to play in the PvE leveling/questing venues. Instead, they expect people to play other specs they may hate for half the game, and even collect multiple gear sets in many cases, just to experience that zero-fun play.

I really hated Ret at first. I mean really. I was never particularly good at DPS, much less melee class. However, once I started gearing it out, I actually started enjoying it. With a bit of research my numbers went up into “you don’t suck as much as our last dps did” range and I even sometimes do an LFR in my ret spec now for variety sakes. Healing is still my one true love though and I hate balance on my druid too.

So Ghostcrawler finally admitted that they made a mistake with dailies.

His solution?

One alternative being considered for reputation leveling is bonus reputation from your first scenario of the day.

Tie it to yet another part of this game that healers get screwed on...

That seems to be the way the game is going. Brawler's guild, scenarios and dailies are all poor choices for healers.

They need to just bring back the tabards. They can easily just put the tabards at honored or even revered with the appropriate faction so you do have to do some dailies (like the developers want you to) but after a while you have a choice to just run instances instead. This idea that the developers have that I should do dailies because they think its fun is absurd. Its not fun for me nor have dailies ever been fun for me. While I will do the quests once just to see them, I am interested in what I get out of the time I put in (rep rewards) a lot more.

The real solution is just to bring back the tabards. I don't care if the developers thought it was a bad idea because you were running instances for rep without any connection to that rep other than a tabard. It worked well. Nothing about it made the game less fun for me. I want the tabards back. They can leave the dailies in, just allow me to use a tabard to gain rep in an instance. I don't like questing in general and I hate the monotony of dailies and how they feel like chores or even work. Its a ridiculous system that has an easy solution. The developers' hubris is the only reason why they won't implement tabards for rep in MoP.

Agreed. I think a good compromise would be to simply make tabards something that only functions if you have selected the healing role. DPS, and tanks that do just as much DPS as DPS, can go do their dailies/scenarios instead.

That wouldn't really be fair to tanks or DPS who didn't like dailies either. They could easily leave in dailies and add tabards. They could even put in a weekly cap for rep accumulated by tabard so you couldn't blast through these reps too quickly (once again, developers think slow rep is fun). Everybody wins with that solution except the developers' egos.

love my feral dps off spec; always have.

I second that emotion.

I first did dailies as Boomie (hold-over from "I'm going to be resto-boom for overlapping gear" times). Doable, but slow and painful.

I'd been saving all my agility leather drops that I'd won in heroics (another hold-over from Wrath heroics). Then when I got a belt off of MSV normal, I decided to drop boomkin. Played as Guardian for a few weeks. I suddenly felt like a GOD. I could have half a dozen mobs on me and walk out with full health. I could start a fight with the entire zone at half health and finish topped off in HP. But it was still slow.

Went Feral last weekend. Wow. I tear through mobs like tissue paper.

I've tried most of the healing classes (with the exception of Mistweaver), and Resto Druid is by far my favorite playing style.

That being said, I'm struggling with the whole daily thing and having to play Boomkin 80% of the time. I REALLY don't enjoy Boomkin DPS.

I've started leveling my priest up to 90 also, and so far Shadow has been better for me than Boomkin at killing trash. I guess I like the sustained playstyle rather than the bursty feel that Balance has.

So my question is: Are there any healers out there who really ENJOY their off-spec for daily questing? How's Shadow performing for you at 90, during the daily grind? How about Elemental shaman? Comparisons?

I'd prefer something that wouldn't involve farming a whole new set of gear, so sticking with Int.

I know your pain but it's a bit worse. MW monks can't use their healing gear as DPS gear when they switch specs. So despite my rather well geared MW being in great gear I have crap for DPS gear.

And a side effect of adding in the ability to upgrade gear through VP means that I can't use the VP that is not worthless to my MW spec on my WW spec. I like the idea of being able to update my gear with VP but I hate that I can't focus on my other spec so that I can do dailies easier AND also provide more raid utility by going DPS.

Blizzard should make a change where you spend VP points on an item slot rather than the items themselves.

In regards to the tabards, I would love that.

If they're really concerned with how much rep we get doing dungeons, make it so you can only get as much rep as you would if you did the dailies.

Example: If you're revered with Golden Lotus, you get three quest hubs worth of rep wearing the tabard. No more, no less.

With Holy as my main spec, I hate the RET playstyle. I just don't like playing any melee style DPS. This is what makes dalies seem esp punitive for pally healers. Our DPS spec makes us carry around a completely different set of gear.

For some reason I find caster DPS alot more enjoyable (have an alt mage). If dalies are in the game to stay (and it appears they are as I'm not seeing anything about tabards coming back) then I would love for Pallies to have a 4th spec (if Druids can, why can't we). A holy casting DPS spec would be sick for Pallies. I would have no problem with our plate armor rating being nerfed in this spec as it would be unreasonable for us to be mages walking around with plate armor protection.

For now, I have two holy specs - 1 for healing and 1 for maximizing dps. The main difference being how I glyph. It takes longer to do dalies but I just hate RET that much that I'm willing to put up with it.

Switch to feral, or even better, guardian. Even when under geared guardians can take on fairly large groups of mobs and slowly beat them down while having access to tons of survivability CDs.

I just do my dailies as holy. It is not that bad now; it really stunk when my gear was garbage though. I will say that there are three quests that are impossible to do as a holy. All three are for the cloud serpent rep.
