For $100, take advantage of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deal on a Radeon HD 7770 for $70 -- assuming your power supply is ~350W at least. Otherwise, you can only buy a Radeon HD 7750.

Measure from the back of where the card would sit horizontally and see how many inches of space you have. Almost all cards are under 11 inches (Unless you go for some high end cards). If you have that much space or more you'll be just fine to fit any of those cards.

Considering you're on a HD 4200, I would say upgrading to the 7750 is your best bet. Found this one on Newegg, 100$

If you absolutely must have something from Nvidia, then I would suggest this GTX 650. 100$ as well.

A tip for these cards, since you're buying at the low end of the spectrum, these cards are significantly shorter than most powerful cards today. That 650 is only 6 x 4 inches and will fit guaranteed in any case. The 7750 is very small as well.

Why pay more for less?

HD 7770 for $105 after rebates, and is much superior over GTX 650 or HD 7750 that costs very close to it
