how is that not helping my point? fire mages ON AVERAGE CAN BE only slightly more lucky than arcane mages. a fire mage with 40% crit will have a standard deviation of rougly 4.9 over 100 casts. an arcane mage with a 25% crit, will have a standard deviation of 4.3 over 100 casts. they are not that far apart from each other.
even more reason for top 100 as oppposed to all parses... correct me if i am wrong, but all parses includes everyone who died does it not? after all, all parses would include all parses... and it would also include everyone who lost their logger while going into a spirit realm, or teleporting to a platform on sha of fear....
i want to see what the spec is capable of at its best, or close to best rather (75th percentile, not 99th). i honestly could not care less about what the bottom half of the class is doing. who cares what the dps is if the mage is not keeping high up-times on buffs and debuffs, doing the rotation properly, and spreading dots when applicable, all while staying alive throughout the duration of the entire fight?
in my opinion, this nerf was and is entirely appropriate and justified. the critical mass was getting out of control with raid buffs and procs, even at my level of gear. without the nerf, i'd be breaking 62% crit while proccing on the pull, coupled with my troll racial and time warp, you gotta be kiddin' me, this is the 1st tier after all. and if you want to reply that your gear isnt as good or better than mine, id reply that it will be once you clear the normal modes. im only rocking a 495 ilvl afterall, and the best in the world are 505ish plus valor upgrades. as far as combustion goes, it was simplified when they removed the pyroblast aspect of it, and in doing so they made it out of control. 2.5m+ damage single target combustion was ridiculous even before i spread it out. it was most fun i've had since alysrazor to be honest, ty blizz, but needed to be toned done. although i wish they had reduced the duration by 50% rather than the damage, as it feels wimpy now. but perhaps reducing combustion's burst was needed as well, seeing as it is typically right after a chain of instant pyroblasts.
