WotA says her mom was Ysera. Unless that was written out.

http://www.wowpedia.org/Blizzard_lore_posts#Cenarius.27_Mother

Blizzplanet: War of the Ancients Trilogy reveals that Ysera is mother of Cenarius and lover of Malorne. Are Ysera and Elune one and the same?

Knaak: Elune and Ysera are not the same. Here is the explanation, per Blizzard, who did not wish any further elaboration in the novel at the time:

According to the Sundering, it is said that Ysera is Cenarius's mother. However, Dungard the Earthen says that he thought Elune 'birthed' Cenarius.

Elune birthed Cenarius, but gave him up to Malorne because Cenarius was more a creature of the mortal world and could not be with her. Malorne, who had relations with both Elune and Ysera, knew that he could not properly care for his son, but Ysera's love was so great for Malorne that she took Cenarius as her own. Hence being his mother (or adoptive mother).

The reason we don't have them isn't because...let me explain it this way: Blizz used this logic with the exclusion of Gnome paladins/hunters.
"The question isn't "Why don't we have them?" The question is "Why do we need them?"".

Well technically there could be some Draenei mages who lose faith in the light/Velen and want more power. What better way to defeat the Burning Legion then to control them and fight fire with fire, of course theres always a catch...
If you have to stretch that far to come up with a reason a race could become another class like that, GG. Draenei druids could happen.

The day Draenei become warlocks is the day all lore is dead.

Once Draenei start doing Warlock-y stuff (technical term, by the way), they are no longer Draenei. Draenei are the Eredar that said NO WAY!!! to demons and got the hell out of there. Any Draenei that was cool with demons would be part of the Burning Legion, probably executed by the rest of the race, or at the very least kicked waaaaaaay out.

They get at least some of their power from Elune.

Actually, no...they don't. They learned their ways and got their power from a being other than Elune.

Again, the Tauren believe in Elune, and call her Mu'sha.

Even the Trolls have ancient texts and poems about the Moon, even if they don't outright worship Elune, she must be known to them.

Yes, but that does not mean those races learned about Druidism from Elune...they did not.

Worshipping the moon =/= Druidism

Cenarius (hence the name of the Cenarion Circle someone mentioned) is the one that taught the Druids.

Also, Elune (Mu'sha) being the mother of Cenarius does not mean that people who worship HER should automatically be able to become Druids. On top of all of that, we don't yet know if she IS one of the Naaru so trying to say Draenei should be able to be Druids because of Elune is a HUGE STRETCH.

Druids do preserve life for the sake of preserving life. If you don't kill those bears, then they will prey too much on the other animals, and you'll soon have so many bears, nothing to feed them, and they'll start attacking places outside of their native territory for food.

Although, population balance isn't in a Druid's job description, that's what Hunters do.

And draenei can't? They obviously have the ability to preserve life. The draenei's ultimate goal is defeating the burning legion, which preserves life.

Holy crap, a Blizzard writer managed to not screw something up. Thats actually a good explanation. Thanks.

Anyone has the ability to preserve life. But the Draenei aren't going to defeat the Burning Legion for the sake of preserving life (Per se'. They are doing to stop them from consuming endless worlds and peoples, but they aren't doing it so that a forest can grow unhindered).

Thanks

From Knaak, of all people too.

You're welcome ^^

True but it is possible that some might lose faith due to the Horde and etc. causing them to seek greater power to crush their enemies. Not likely, but possible.

How is stopping the Burning Legion from consuming endless worlds and peoples not preserving life?

Druids are pretty good at fighting demons as well. Why wouldn't the draenei use what's available to them for the upcoming war?

I said per se'. They aren't doing it for the reasons a Druid would want to.

Let me explain. Say the world that Infernals originated from was originally a world of nothing but rock, and the Infernals were originally a race of sentient stone creatures. They use mercury to feed themselves, but have no actual organs or systems in their stony bodies. They could be natural, or they could be magical, whatever you want.

The Draenei would want to stop the Burning Legion so that this race of stone giants could live without the threat of demonic corruption.

A Druid, however, would want to stop the Burning Legion so he could grow a forest on that planet and bring the 'wonders of life' to it.

The better question is, why would they?

They already have the best types of fighters available for fighting demons (Paladins and Priests). Why waste their time on a type of magic subpar vs demons, especially when they already have Magi and Shaman?

I thought we were talking playable class race combos. Yes, it is possible for a Draenei to go Warlock. But then they would either be dead or gone, therefore we would never have playable ones.

If you're just arguing "BUT SOMEWHERE, SOMETIME, IT MIGHT HAPPEN IN LORE!" well, yeah, sure. If we're talking playable, never.

I'm sure the draenei would want the forest to grow as well since they're required for that race of stone giants to live.

Why would the forest be required for the stone giants?

They don't eat plants, they don't build structures out of wood.

Yea but it might bring some spicy new flavour and internal conflict/lore to their race. It doesn't matter to me though.
