Battle.net error #2

Tried logging in this morning to get into WoW, I can't due to this error. I tried doing the trouble shooting stuff, none of it has worked. Is there a different fix that someone has found yet?

Have you done all the steps listed in our Error # 2 article?

I tried all of that stuff, but I think it's probably my hotels network settings... I am TDY in Okinawa Japan right now, and they have some seriously stupid network restrictions I talked to some other people today and they have the same problems trying to log into wow as me. None of the other Japanese bases gave me problems just this one.. I can't even use a VPN :( I guess no wow for a month!

Did you try switching to a different DNS and see if it helps? Google's DNS is public and may work for the moment if you're having ISP issues.

I too am having problems with error #2. I downloaded the free 10 day trial for the new expansion and upon trying to log in, i get error #2. This never happened to me before this expansion. I've tried what Mackhlan has suggested and restarted my computer multiple times. I'm not sure what else to do. Is it a blizzard problem or us?

Try seeing if you can connect to the login server or not :

We need the output of that command. We need to figure out if it's connecting to the login server or not.

The "telnet" thing wasn't a fix.

It was a diagnostic step. Like when the doctor ask you to put a depressor on your tongue and to go "arggghhhh" while he puts a scope in your ear. The scope itself isn't going to fix anything it just helps the doctor figure out what's wrong.

I won't know anything until you do the command and copy/paste the results you get.

The Battle.net Error 2 means that something is blocking the active connection prior to getting to our servers, which then the client thinks servers are offline.

Most times this is due to a security or firewall app blocking the connection. Do you have any of these on your Mac?

I usually just play fine, with no problems at all.

This issue just happened to me here (*At a hotel in Japan ) so im sure it must be a hotel thing... is there some way to by pass this?

Hmmmm.

Can you run a traceroute to :

us.logon.battle.net
us.depot.battle.net

IE

traceroute us.logon.battle.net
traceroute us.depot.battle.net

And copy/paste the contents ?

You could try connecting over a VPN like Hot Spot Shield.

Other then that it's sounding like a hotel firewall that's blocking connections here.

I have done everything that everyone else has posted regarding this issue, whether it be MAC or PC. I have done every possible thing, and it is still causing problems. I am still seeing battle.net error #2. I haven't been able to play for a month now. If I can't get this fixed I'm going to need to pause my account...Since It doesn't make much sense to be paying for something that I'm not even able to use. :C
