JC Gems adjusted when MOP epic gems released

Just wanting to know whether the JC gems will be adjusted when the Epic gems for MOP are released? In the past they haven't been adjusted making JC worth less than the other professions past the release of epic gems. Considering you guys have been quite concerned about balancing the professions, I'd assume that the JC gems will be balanced out to fit the 320 base stat bonus over the epic gems, or at least have the option to upgrade the JC gems similar to the way gear upgrades? On another note, will there be PVP JC gems ever released?

there's really no way to know. In wrath they rebalanced all professions when epic gems came out and cata they didn't.

PvP gems for JCs will never be released as no profession has PvP perks. Blacksmithing is the exception however due to the nature of its profession perk. While it does not provide PvP stats, it does allow the use of any gem, hence the 640 stat secondary profession perk compared to the 480 stat bonus provided by other professions.

If epic gems are introduced during the Mists expansion, whether or not the JC perk is adjusted will depend on the implementation of epic gems. If, like in WotLK, the game is re-balanced around the use of epic gems, then all of the professions will be adjusted. But, if the game continues to be balanced around rare gems as it was in Cataclysm, then there is no need for the professions to be adjusted.

At the end of the day though, you have to decide why you are leveling professions, and why you are leveling them on the characters you are leveling them on. I would prefer tailoring on a cloth wearer for RP, blacksmithing on a hardcore main character, and alchemy, enchanting, or engineering on a casual main for utility.

Yeah. No other profession but BS has PvP perks.

And no other profession other than JC has PvP nerfs built right into it. I'm all for fixing both of these things, myself.

It is suboptimal to gem your main stat when you PvP. People gem PvP Power or Resil. Orange or Purple Stat/Resil or Stat/PvP-Power gems are used in red slots. A Jewelcrafter doesn't just get the same +320 strength/agi/int bonus as any other profession - they get it only if they gem two red gems.

Even if they gave us Resil or PvP power gems, Jewelcrafting would still get less bonus PvP Power/Resil than Blacksmithing. Yellow Serpent's eyes are only +480 to a stat. We'd get a bonus +320 Resil for gemming two of them - instead of Blacksmithing's +640.

The best part is that, even for PvE, you'd best hope that your class doesn't gem a rating over the main stat (as some do now that rating gems give 2x the stats of a main stat gem). The Yellow Serpent's eyes aren't double the budget of a yellow gem. Gemming two Mastery Serpent's Eyes would only give you +320 bonus mastery.

At the moment, Serpent's Eyes are hands down the worst profession bonus. Two bonus gem slots is hands down the best. They "fixed" Jewelcrafting to make sure it does not benefit from the new 2x budget of yellow and blue gems. Blacksmithing's bonus remains unchanged. It's really bizarre how Jewelcrafters are undermined by the gem system - while another profession benefits so much from it.

The best request for fixing the socketing issue is the creation of 6 new serpents eyes that are the 320 PvP stats that everyone can gem, plus 160 primary stats, providing the jewelcrafter with the same 320 primary stat perk as all of the other professions.

I also agree that JC should be buffed to 560 secondary stats per gem, providing a 480 secondary stat buff, which would bring it on par with the other professions that provide secondary stats.

But I don't think there is a need for JC to get PvP perks, unless you want to argue that all of the crafting professions should have 480 stats worth of PvP perks.

There are PvP Dragon's Eye and Chimera's Eye cuts. So PvP gems for JC have been released in the past. Just not with MoP.

Previous xpacs have allowed JCs to slot 3 Dragon/Chimera Eyes. In MoP, you can only slot 2. They may simply be planning on upping that to 3 when epic MoP gems are released.

highly doubt it. That would be to much.

it was reduced from 3 to 2 because the stat bonuses from professions are an even number and cant be equally divided by 3. so like in cata JC had 81 stats while everyone else had 80 because 80 isnt divisible by 3..
