Wool by Hugh Howey

It's a self-published series of novellas that were written by an amateur author, and they're awesome. The first one is free, or you can buy the first 5 for like 6 bucks. They really drew me in. After reading them, I felt like all I ever wanted to read were stories that took place in this world. I'm a sucker for a good post-apocalyptic/dystopian future story, and this is probably one of the best I've ever read.

They've been so successful that he got a publishing deal out of it, they'll be printing hard copies of the book soon, and it's been optioned for a movie.
