You can also ask your dps if they have a defensive available before going for a cooldown such as ironbark or bubble of protection. A healer's dr cds are vital, once the enemy team has those out... Best start getting some cc.

Sounds like you played badly. You are the problem, not your healer. Your healer called out that he/she was CCed. Its up to you to stay alive at that point since the healer is locked down.

As for not overlapping cooldowns....yes, the healer should call out their cooldowns as you, yours. Everybody should call out all major timers or have some sort of announcement set up. This counts for offensive timers too. I've had so many problems with rogues in RBGs letting the team know when smoke screen was up (in Cata). The "skill" part of WoW is derived from information.
