I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on a Shaman (any shaman) being a part of the Shado Pan. I am also not sure if the Shado Pan really let people 'in' aside from earning their respect, lore-wise (by doing the dailies & rep).
What are your thoughts? I've only ever seen archers, rogues, warriors... basically just 'fighters' among the NPCs.
I think it's totally workable. The Pandaren Brewmaster, a neutral Hero from WC3, had the ultimate ability transform himself into elements of Earth, Wind, and Fire; that seems fairly shamanistic to me. In terms of in-game mechanics, I suppose you could say that each of your totems represented a specific ancestral member of the Shado-Pan: one who was full of fiery passion; one who was calm as the tranquil seas; one with the strength and endurance of the mountains; and one who traveled the world with the winds at his back. Planting each totem calls out to these ancestors, who bless the shaman that has honoured them.
So, I think you could fit it into the theme of the culture pretty easily.

The dailies for the Shado-Pan let you recruit one of their members to help you with the quests, as I'm sure you know. These NPCs fit into a variety of class roles -- there's both a fire and a frost mage, and I'm pretty sure there's a priest. And if Ban Bearheart is a shaman like Xinthos says (can't say I recall), then it's a no-brainer. ;0)
Get yourself the Shado-Master achievement and none will doubt your dedication! >_>
I haven't delved deep enough into the quest line to know about the other NPCs. I was mostly referring to what I had seen on the wall. But that's good to know!
I already focus Jinglz' elemental abilities through the August Celestials. :-) I have a whole story in my mind about her 'Shamanism'. She's most tied to the Jade Serpent & White Tiger, and (in my little story) she was purged of Sha corruption by a Shado-Pan healer. So I figured devoting her to the Shado-Pan and fighting against the Sha was appropriate. It also lends to the much-needed balance in the Spirits/elements that she needs to focus on in order to keep from being corrupted again.
Anyway. Blah blah. *wink*
Thanks all for your input! It's fun to dig into the world of Pandaria and learn all of its secrets.
Ban Bearheart puts his earth shields on EVERYONE during a quest in Kun Lai I believe. Shado-pan aren't just rogues and archers-- they accept all walks of life. I've also seen a fire mage and a frost mage among them (two of the optional sidekicks to take along for the dailies)
And then there's ME, the warlock. See? I have a hat and everything.
Thank you for pitching in Belmir.
I did end up 'finishing' the Shado-Pan daily questline and reached exalted. The final quests are pretty darn awesome. Now I just need to get the title. That is a work in progress to say the least.
I am working on some xmog. I wish that Blizz had some better 'copies' of the Shado-Pan gear, but I guess that adds an edge to it - needing to find your own. *wink*
*edit* DANG Belmir, your gear is perfect for the helm. I'm finding that robes/leather lend a bit better coloration for it. Finding mail that I like is proving tricky!

Yes, I have to say, I really am enjoying the lore for these factions. It made my first go 'round at these dailies a bit more bearable. And for the the first time, I actually loathe a faction as a whole (Klaxxi.... dang dirty bugs!)
And thank you! It's my look du'jour... I got exalted and was super-stoked that I had access to this dope hat (I left the tag on so you could see how expensive it was) and I was pleased to find something in my void vault that matched. Of course if and when I get my green fire this is all gonna change, but for now, it's a sweet look. :3
I've had the same issue with my shaman. If you ask me, Heroic tier 10 (Icecrown 25) may go well with the Shado-pan hat... it has red and glows yellow, which might match the, uhhhh, yellow antennae on top of this dope hat.
I don't use any add-ons for transmog but I use a lot of third party sites.... Wowhead has a great transmog section and so does Icy-veins. http://wowroleplaygear.com is also a nice site to go look at as far as complete sets go. Personally I like to mix and match when I can, but you can't beat when a whole set looks gewd. :3
Edit: PS-- sorry, maybe I derailed this thread ;D

I love wowroleplay gear for ideas on mix-and-match sets. :-) Yesterday I was playing around with a combination of the gear compare/3d model tool at Wowhead.com and the in-game mogit tool.
What I found was pretty neat - I'm not telling what the setup is yet, until I've collected it. I'm pretty excited.
Aside from the concept of a Shado-Pan type thing, I am really enjoying the gear xmog I have on now. It's not super creative but I really like it with my color and hair. ;-) So it's a toss-up!
