For the spread portion of the fight you only healed the targets to 10k. Anything more was a waste and you were just wasting mana. That is why i used it as an example. You only spammed your brains out on the stack phase which lasted 20 seconds or so.
Did you actually have the time
to cast your wimpy slow, cheap heal? Because I didn't. It was Healing Surge, HEALING SURGE BABY because you couldn't take the chance that they'd get targeted a second time and die before your slow heal got off (granted, as a Shaman
I could use Healing Wave if I had Tidal Waves, but other healers? lolololol).
It wasn't for several months. I mained a tank at that time and if I had gotten all my VP through raiding that week you couldn't pay me enough to do a random unless it was a guild group with one of our healers. The bag could go toss itself in a lake, you couldn't get me to tank a troll random PuG for a few extra gold and a chance to win something rare.
Trust me, it sucked for us tanks too, especially in the starting weeks.
I believe you. It was so bad on my server that I ended up quitting - I was the odd person out in our raid team (times, etc., conflicted) and so I didn't have a set team to do the heroics with. As a result, I had to pug. Well, after pugging a few and wanting to cut myself, I said, "The hell with this" and went and played another game for two months.
01/23/2013 07:47 AMTirel is saying, I believe, that at no point was the damage so light (or so limited in scope), yet still in some way challenging, that the small single target heal was a viable option outside of specific mechanics.

Yes, Morenn is right. I am saying that at no point on Chimeron was the small, single target heal a viable mechanic outside of Tidal Waves and possibly
Holy Paladin Holy Light, with enough Haste (though I'm not entirely sure enough Haste was possible at that point in the gearing cycle). Heal was too slow. Nourish was too slow. Healing Wave was too slow without Tidal Waves.
01/23/2013 08:17 AMI think triage existed in some form in Cata past beta. You definately had to use your efficient heal sometimes.

Must be a Druid thing, because I never used Heal on Tiriel during Cata, and I stopped using Healing Wave very early on (pretty much after the first dungeon where I realized that it was going to do exactly nothing to keep the tank alive, and I'd better swap to GHW or we were going to lose the tank, screw my mana!) on my Shaman.
