Ravenholdt and Population Issues

Ryoka - it was nice to actually cross paths with you in game, and we didn't kill each other.
It didn't dawn on me till after that you may have been wanting to get Crackle Fang as a pet, I do apologize if I caused you more of a head ache by killing him for my quest, and then again as we stood there sorta chatting with emotes.

Back in Character....

T'at elf knew bett'r t'an ta mess wi't us Ottis. Bett'r she kept 'er hands so she could use 'er bow lat'r t'an test my axe.
You really just wanted to ride her pet, and was hoping to not get shot it in the back.
I t'ought you had my back wi't ta fury o' a million rab'bid bunnies?
well, I can't very well let you die again, I think it would be detrimental to us and Ottis. That's not to say you wouldn't end up with an arrow or two in your back before an 'intervention'

Indeed, well met! Very considerate of you to think about that, but since Cracklefang is level 91 it's impossible to tame him... well, for all of us but Chuck Norris. I actually just noticed you when I was flying by and thought I might help you with Cracklefang...

So you know, I rarely attack without provocation, especially those I know are roleplayers.

Hello Ravens!! Hope I can call you that? I am checking out the server and looking for friends of the RP variety. I am not terrific at pvp but I like to do it sometimes. My main focus is RP. and I love it so much I am an alt-oholic! I have way too many characters and here I go again.

I heard you needed some rpers on Alli side so I am going to try and make that happen. I am a veteran rper, I have addons and like to coordinate my outfits. I will drop everything to go and rp. Of course if I am in middle of dungeons this can create problems...

Right now my friend Caynes and I are thinking of making an rp guild. We have not set up a theme yet. So we are open to suggestions.

My tentative ideas include a homebased militia out of either Redridge or Westfall. Would be like a local Guard.

Or a loose knit mercenary group of the adventurer type. Willing to be hired as guards and escorts.

The third idea is an investigator group based out of Stormwind. More like private investigators. We have had a lot of fun with this idea on Cenarion Circle.

Last idea is a Robin Hood type group. Rebelling against the establishment and helping out the poor and downtrodden.

Nothing evil, though we may bend lore a bit and play tricks on people from time to time. We are looking for fun and gathering a loose knit band of merrymakers.

Hope to see some late night people as well as daytime buddies. My schedule is pretty open.

Those are all great ideas, Marlyna! I love you enthusiasm and it was wonderful to see both you and Caynes in the /RP channel last night. Hopefully you enjoyed getting to meet everyone there.

I would recommend posting these ideas of yours on the Ravenholdt Sanctum (ravenholdt.us) and soliciting advice from the RP community there. The player base on RH is somewhat small and the RP community is a smaller subset of that, so to gain players you'll need a guild that people can support. Although, with the recent influx of people, this might be a great time to start a new guild! But getting to know what we already have on the server might help you to find a guild niche that we're truly lacking.

As far as I can tell, we don't quite have a guild that is like any of those that you described (although there are some mercenary-type guilds out and about, maybe). In the past, we've also had sea-faring trading/pirate guilds (<Twin Seas Trading Co.>), which would be amazing to see come back now that we're getting more players who can support smaller guilds.

I'm so excited to see these ideas and all of the new people around. Please, let us know how we can help!

*Sighs heavily* I need more alts and more time to put in all of these guilds! D:

Thanks, I will do that. Though I post under Knobul, I have both sides covered.

I do like Hordeside, but I am dedicated to rp so I may just delete my other hordes and just keep Knobul for the fun of it. The character is kind of growing on me.

So it's Sat and I don't see many people online, is it a bad time to meet others?

Saturday during the day is hit or miss. I think that a lot of people have other activities going on so they're not in-game as much during the day. The evening will see activity pick up though!

Edit: Saturdays are homework/housework days for me. ...Which, of course, explains why I post so much on the forums during the day!

This was a nice idea in theory, however, I've just noticed more transients. People getting invited onto the server, or transfering an alt to hunt rarespawns.

There's no long term investment happening.

There have a been a couple who are just looking for the rare spawns, but even those individuals have asked questions about Ravenholdt and have introduced themselves to some people in the community. Will some people get what they want and then leave? Sure. But I also think that some people will get to know the awesome sense of community we have here and will be tempted to stay. Truly, I've noticed a lot of new people in /RP and several of them have said that they're bringing over higher levels to play on Ravenholdt. So, I would respectfully beg to differ on the assessment that no long-term investment is taking place. I think that this effort will bear fruit, though how much has yet to be seen.

Still, the thread is going and I'm so impressed with the results so far!

I am a long term investment and I am looking for a home. I am not a transfer, as my character is completely new.

Many guilds have sent me messages. However, and this is important, I do not want a huge message telling me how great the guild is and how I'd be a great member. I want the person messaging me to actually get to know me first before they let me in. I want to take time to digest what the guild can offer me. I've always been leery of guilds who let anyone in without any vetting whatsoever.

That said, I am enjoying my time, as I have not leveled a rogue from 1-60 since before BC. I am interested in a RP guild, but I will admit, I probably won't remember to RP everything. Really though, it is the people who matter. If the guild raids, that is a plus, as I wouldn't mind raiding again, but if they don't, its not a big deal.

Completely understandable. You might want to check out some of the other threads where Horde guilds have been mentioned. Additionally, joining /Horde might connect you with some people in the community who can then connect you to guilds that might suit your interests. Good luck in your search for a guild!

And welcome to Ravenholdt =)

I greatly appreciate the warm welcome the Horde has given my Druid!

...I'm already wanting to scrounge up $25 and bring my NElf hunter here as well. If I can't, I'll just roll another one. :)

I took my hunter to SW and spoke to a few people and smiled at a few more. A few smiled back and one even spoke.

No one offered to talk about their guild with me, the only guild invite I did get was some random person sending out guild invites to all that were guildless and my auto decliner got a workout from him before he decided to stop. I am with Tierren in that I don't want to be a number in a guild that just wants people to level it.(at least that is my impression of those who try and get members that way). I want a home and friends I can grow to know and appreciate. I want to talk to someone and see if our interests even are compatible before I make a commitment to a guild. Or them to me for that matter.

I am shy both IRL and in game. But I have patience and since I moved her and her heirloom I'm in it for the long haul.

As has been said, <BARBARIANS> is a guild that has been created as a comfortable buffer while folks new to the server and to the game get oriented and figure out what they want out of life. (Or Ravenholdt. Take yer pick)

I'm in this guild on an alt (Brandibron). So if you'd like a place to start out and get comfortable on the server, feel free to poke me on this toon and I'll switch over to get you a guild invite. While I'm not on that alt very much, I'm happy to talk to folks on whatever toon I'm playing, and the guild notes associated with that character lists out my sundry most reachable characters.

At the moment though, I'm off to bed. Nite ;)

Drop me a line. I even promise to respond OOC. Trust me, this is for the best.

Seriously though, let me know your hunter's name. There is an RP event coming up Friday PM.

My friends and I recently rolled some toons here and made ourselves a very small guild. We are originally from a high population RP server and just wanted a place to level without the benefit of our heirlooms and guild perks (we are crazy), and to escape the CRZ pollution, and perhaps meet some nice people along the way. So just saying hi, adding to your alliance (and likely horde) population and promising not to be jackwagons!

I'll check for you in game and if I don't see you I'll send you a mail in game from her. I did check off and on yesterday but must have missed everyone. Par for the course with me lol
