Alright, so let's say you can only listen to five records for the rest of your life. What would you choose? For me:

1. The Cure - Disintegration
2. The Smiths - Louder Than Bombs
3. The Chameleons - What Does Anything Mean, Basically?
4. This Mortal Coil - It'll End in Tears
5. Dead Can Dance - The Serpent's Egg

This was a lot harder to narrow down that I really thought it would be.

Hmmm. I haven't done this in a while and I'm realizing that my answers have changed since the stock response I used to have.

Brad - Shame
I Mother Earth - Scenery and Fish
Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West
Slayer - Reign in Blood
The Afghan Whigs - 1965

Still feels woefully incomplete.

Miles Davis, Kind Of Blue

Grateful Dead, any Dick's Picks volume pre-1973

Keith Jarrett, Nude Ants

Beethoven, 9th Symphony

Steve Kimock Band, Live 2012

I'd sure be hatin' no Mozart or Lizst, no moe., no reggae, & no Max Creek, but I could live on these.

It's seriously hard to think of just ONE KJ recording, too, especially when it means missing out on The Trio. But I gotta have my Jan Garbarek.

The Koln Concert was my introduction, and will always have a special place in my heart.

LOL! I thought about including a Band album, but since I could only choose five, Dylan had to take priority. :D

However, I did try to represent The Band's music by including Before the Flood, which includes some of the best live performances of their songs.

The Afghan Whigs - 1965

It was really hard for me to leave Gentlemen off my list. How do you like Greg's new stuff, Twilight Singers and all that? She Loves You is a fantastic album, especially considering it's all covers.

And I'm not just talking about the album art.

I had a very hard time picking between 1965, Gentlemen and The Twilight Singers' Blackberry Belle. The man can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned, though Dynamite Steps hasn't yet grabbed me like the others. I was very sad I missed the reunion shows, hoping I get another chance.

Holy Crap that doesn't make I dwnr in what I'd need for music. Hank Williams Sr, Johnny Cash, Black Keys, Joy Division, The Cure, T-Rex, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Cheap Trick, Lead Belly, Dimmu Borgir, Dark Throne, The Summoning, Rancid, Civil Wars, Dead Man's Bones....

Screw it, not going to the island. Nope, not going to do it.

Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Megadeth - Peace Sells...But Whose Buying?
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Bathory - Under the Sign of the Black Mark
Slayer - Reign in Blood

I wouldn't mind Cowboys from Hell, The Number of the Beast, and some Queen, but those five would do fine.

Liquid Radio episode #6 or #18, mixed by DJ Sosei. I could take both and call it a double album.

If I was asked this a bit over a year ago, I would have probably put Death's The Sound of Perseverance, Judas Priest's Painkiller, and Testament's The New Order instead of some of the Katatonia and Opeth, but those two bands have risen to be my favorites over the past year..
