Blockade didn't work that great if people still got to Theramore.

The whole point of Theramore was to get as many alliance soldiers there as possible. That's why Garrosh waited for days.

You do have a point, Idk but it just seemed that the Alliance has a better naval force since what happened in the Jade forest, and their air force is also better...

OP's logic seems kind of silly. Heck, he even pokes holes in his own arguments in the same post.

The Dwarves fill in a majority of the things Gnomes could do, save for at Landfall, leaving the Gnomes with just as little lore as Draenei.

Not really. The gnomes have very little lore because Blizzard doesn't feel like writing gnome lore, nothing else.

No, I think the best reason against playable ogres is much more simple - they bring nothing to the table that the Horde doesn't already have

Why does it matter that they don't bring anything new? Lots of races have overlapped lore. Up until Garrosh Troll/Orc/Tauren were almost indistinguishable culturally. The Draenei were said to have joined the Alliance specifically because they had so much in common with Humanity (yes, they had shamans, but Draenei shamans have virtually no lore impact other than simply being there). The way Worgen were advertised pre-Cata was basically the exact same way the night elves were first advertised too. Both of them had the same 'eh, !@#$ it' execution of that premise too.

If anything since we know Garrosh is going away we know that there'll be a vacancy in the brutish/violent slot that Ogres could sub into decently.

Honestly Ogres are the "high elves" of the horde.

Which is funny because except religion they have more in common with tauren or pandaren maybe even Darkspear trolls.

I wouldn't be suprised by this point if the Horde navy is stronger. It seems like the only navy we use is the Stormwind navy which has been taking a beating since Wotlk. No clue how we are going to fight without Kul Tiras. Hell maybe thats the plan to get Kul Tiras involves, beat the tar out of Stormwind's navy then bring in the big guns from Kul Tiras.

Ya when it comes to the thematic; the space ships, the crystal technology, the truly alien appearance, all bring a lot more to the table then ogre mounds. I do think ogres are over-due but the question is at the expense of who?

Its not just that ogres share a similar theme, its that their theme is so generic literally anybody (seriously name anybody) else would bring more diversity. Blood elves, draenei, worgen, Goblins. Love them or hate them, they were all picked with the intention of broadening the horizons of both factions.

I'd just as soon not see any additional races for awhile, and as many other have posted, Ogres are basically Tauren + Orcs - Brains = Ogres. There's nothing they bring besides a new model.

On top of that....Doors. We already have one race that can't fit through doors properly, not sure we need another.

Also, Female Ogres. We've never seen one (to my knowledge) so they would have to be build from scratch. One of two things will come of this, the first being they are so unappealing, no one will play them outside of irony. The other option is they are made far to attractive, giving rise to claims of sexism and the angry masses flooding the forums with model hate.

That's like saying orcs and tauren are the same because they're both large, 'noble savage' types with a shamanistic bent. It's only true at the most superficial level.

The new blue sailed Alliance ships basically are Elven Destroyers.

But Orcs and Tauren are basically the same. Or, at least, they were until the ideological split for Cata with Baine becoming hyperpacifistic and Garrosh hyperaggressive.

Even the average going public would never mistake a minotaur for an orc. Gnomes and dwarves, on the other hand, are both short, bearded, and incredibly human looking.

Really gnomes were just the oddest choice in classic. Their name had been coughed out in passing a whooping two times in the manual before their appearance in WoW.

We should have gotten Ogres back in BC but that ship has sailed.

Gnomes have been around since wc2 with the flying machines and the turtle subs.

Which was what i was referring to, (though the turtle sub was goblins working for the Horde). Thing is that is hardly something to make define the warcraft experience by. I mean for like the one fan who was really attached to gnomes in Everquest and also had a very sharp memory of warcraft 2, gnomes were just the thing he was hoping for but i think they could have done better even to point of straight up pulling a race out of their nether regions while warcraft still had breathing space.

Its no secret that goblins and gnomes share a niche, in fact goblins were originally planned for the alliance but got shafted due to their neutral status in warcraft 3.

Now back onto Ogres...

I read that thing people seem to misquote it. It mentions making the goblins a playable faction, but didn't specify for who. They went on to then decide that they picked gnomes for the final Alliance race.
