I downloaded the Npcscan add-on,made sure it was in the right folder and is up-to-date but my Add-ons button on the character screen doesn't show up.

when you extracted it, it would have been placed in a folder.
Did you remove it from the main folder before placing it in the addons folder?

Deppends on what the "main folder" is.The one it came in that says_NPCScan-5.0.0.5?

If it's not showing up then it has to be in the wrong location. Make sure that the NPCscan folder is inside your addons folder. If you're having difficulty with the files you could always download the curse client. I prefer that for dealing with my addons.

Oh, so you're saying you put it in the right folder and it's not showing up?

I don't know how that's going to change what I said, that if it's not showing up it HAS to be in the wrong folder.

Try linking us your complete file path.

Were you logged in on the character select screen when you extracted it? If so, you would need to close WoW and reopen/login to see an addon from the character select screen.

That would be the file you downloaded.

You need to extract the contents of the folder.
The folder inside what you extract, is the one to place in the addons folder.

The easiest way to deal with this is probably to direct you to the Addon troubleshooting guide:
